No way would that last performance be just time out. Not a chance. I'd put money on it if that wasn't noone1 himself it would have been his room mate going out with all guns blazing on his behalf. That one needs more than a perma ban imo.

 

Gotta admit one thing..i didn't find much entertainment value in @noone1 and his antics - I'm glad he's gone. Banter is one thing, but trying to take the fun and joy away from others for no other reason than to be heard, is just not okay.
@Westcoaster on ghe other hand, now there's a bit of vaudeville. It's like watching Jerry Springer or something. You know you shouldn't, you know you're better than that, and you know your IQ points will drop for every minute. But like the proverbial train wreck, you can't turn away - you have to see what comes next after the smoke clears. I know, I digress. I will try to stay mature about this, and let sleeping corpses lie. But that exit of @Westcoaster's, had me intrigued. Angry fella..

Indeed. But I'm wondering. Westcoaster has been here since 2016. If he was a friend, or associate of @noone1, wouldn't they have been tag teaming in all the threads where @noone1 tried to get his "point" across? I suspect that @Westcoaster is just a hot head who's equally out of touch with reality, and like most self proclaimed alpha males, he finds himself in a situation where he feels that he needs to stand up to the authority. @Westcoaster strikes me as the sort of chap, whom upon witnessing a brawl between a drunkard and the police in front of a bar, would step in and hurl obscenities and abuse at the police, because they had to subdue the drunken monkey. The hero nobody called for, the protector of conceited justice.

Nah it'd be him. I joined in 2016. I can recall ripping the covers off his little charade and he would have known his game was up. A few started to sit up and pay attention then. It makes sense that he set up a fallback position with the westcoaster user. He's always been gunning for me up until recently when I got bored with his antics. He definitely needs some help there but he's obviously been getting his hands onto some car almanacs lately which has kept him busy on the forums.

 

This place shld be run with an iron fist in the car sections. In politics and business let it be a free for all. The value of the community here is impressive and needs to be nurtured. The amount of machinery possessed by owners is unmatched. To think true enthusiasts have to deal with pests is beyond me. They shld be sought out and fumigated asap.

I also think number of posts is dangerous is a situation like noone1s. New user joins the community and sees his post count and places credibility in him. If we are going to have post count then we need to have post counter per car or something to give more meaning to the metric. Non owners can achieve levels of seniority by “performing”.

100 percent why i feel strongly about him being banned. pretty much what i said back in September in the tdf price thread that he got kicked out of.

 

the ignore button shld be eliminated. it allows annoying people to be annoying. get rid of ignore and use an iron fist for 3 months and evaluate the difference. so many ways to do this as you dont need to bat 1,000

getting rid of noone1 and 2 or 3 others and i bet you eliminate 90% of the noise going forward.

 

I hate the ignore button. Have tried to use it and the threads become littered with empty posts. Then there is always that link that says “show ignored content”. I mean it’s like putting a bowl of ice cream in front of me and telling me not to eat it. Impossible thus I don’t end up clicking it.

 

I like eliminating the other 10% of bloviating people as well. And I never click on ignored content.
Because of this noone1 dustup I rethought my own “ignore” choices and I took Shadowfax off ignore...and then read his bloviating posts in this thread, his assertion I was being petty, and then his come-to-Jesus as to why noone1 truly deserved his ban. So I think it is appropriate for him to acknowledge I was not being “petty” but rather ahead of the curve for Shadowfax (btw...also insulting Paul for being capricious). Then, I’d rather go back to the less-bloviating FChat of these past many moons and place Shadowfax back on ignore. However, I suspect he won’t apologize.

 

i have friends who have 10s of millions of cars i wld never buy. different strokes for different folks. BUT, we all treat each other with respect and we speak from substance if we are opining on something. this platform is extremely valuable on many fronts when it comes to cars. there is even some great financial/investment (non automotive) brainpower. Why we wouldn't hold our standard at the highest level is beyond me. it shld be known that's how things are run here and that this isn't the place to come and suffocate people with stupidity. People like noone1 cost the site clicks and traffic. if a user is accumulating negative feedback and the numbers prove it, they shld be banned sooner than later. the longer things fester the harder they become to deal with. that's a fact of life. like many here, i have answered the same one question hundreds of times: "im buying xys, what do i look for?" we all have an we will all continue to welcome new enthusiasts. They all deserve a vetting process - we know how many we have seen come through that were totally phony.

as a person's post count grows they shld be held to even higher standards. imagine how much better off we wld all be if noone1 only had the capacity to have 450 posts instead of 4500.

 

maybe fchat needs a BOD - 5 or 7 members who meet certain credentials. the moderators are in a tough spot and i think they do a great job. to me moderators are like a compliance role. i think the BOD shld serve the purpose of monitoring and expelling the pests and that wld alleviate some of the burden from the mods.

 

I think the mods do a terrific job of keeping this place high quality but still allowing humor and occasional rancor. Let’s face it, we all have bad days and sometimes someone triggers us here and steam gets blown off. It is the habitual contrarian instigators that drag this place down and they end up either ignored or banned eventually.
It is true that people come on here looking for real car advice as they are torn between different options, and they are gathering opinions. When a member has thousands of posts and argues from “authority” yet doesn’t even own a car then that actually can become problematic for the community.

Frankly I don't think you deserve one. Your overall expectations from many members here has been very unrealistic and overly judgmental which smacks of serious arrogance and self importance. Owning a Ferrari doesn't make you any better than the next guy and i hope one day you realize that. If you need a safety blanket then deal with that as an issue you need to address on a personal level and refrain from blaming others for your intolerances.

PS. I also don't back away from the fact that Noone really should have been banned long ago and, whilst Noone''s banning is certainly warranted regardless I still think Paul would have been better off keeping an arms length in the situation. And being subjected to a spate of his offensive remarks I would have personally much preferred to have seen him off with a big bang rather than the wimper he went out on. That all said I think noones westcoaster alter ego picked up for any lost ground....and got his just deserves.

I'd put money on it. They both snap and lash out in similar fashion when cornered or don't get their own way.

Agree. It takes a "special" person to use the ignore button and stick with it. But they are out there and that's why the button is there.

A person with integrity would merely admit that; instead you attempt to demean me further with assertions of wonton arrogance, self-importance, and even suggest I should do a personal inventory of my personality flaws...more than double-downing on your insulting attitude.
