Never had nor heard of them before.

Per Wiki..."Import of mirabelles to the United States is restricted as the fruit has a protected origin designation. Mirabelles can be imported into the US only from Lorraine, France, making true Mirabelle Plums almost impossible to get in the US.[2]"

Liquor stores are considered essential in Texas, so they're open here! [emoji2]

Costco will ship some things here, but not groceries. Think we're too far out in the boonies!

Liquor stores are open here too, just can’t buy wine/liquor in a grocery store. Most are small independent stores except for TotalWine. And insulting - closed on Sunday.

Getting old on all this.... so tonight, "Albert and his sons" provided us with a couple pieces of fried chicken and some potato salad :(

Haven't had "supermarket fried chicken" in YEARS. But we were there, it was fresh.... done (the tiny leg was from the "baked" counter, thigh deep fried)

This crap needs to end and restaurants need to reopen. But Chairman Inslee of WA isn't likely to lift the bans any time soon.

    Sigh

There is a chain here called Brookshires that does a decent fried chicken, if you stick to the drumsticks. Kroger in-store fried chicken, avoid unless you're in the Deep South.

We're supposed to open up in Texas a bit more in a few days. Wife and I will likely stay in lockdown for a few more weeks, work from home as much as possible, minimal to no eating out, then a road trip to less infested parts of the country. That's the dream anyway!

We are going for another first (for us) tonight...going to attempt to make regular pizza dough...sounds easy enough on the interweb

We will start drinking well in advance, so we should be fine...

The co op store I'm a member of, does decent fried chicken. I'm craving Chinese food. Might get take out tonight. A Chinese restaurant mailed out a menu and they get decent Yelp reviews. Maybe get sashimi, the Chinese place is in the same plaza as a decent Japanese restaurant.

Shaping it is! Good grief...so that you can laugh along at us (as we did), here is how our pizzas transpired...it took a while to even get shapes that had a PG rating...

After much effort and mimicking of pizza guys I've seen over the years, this was the best we could do...at least these won't get relegated to the "backroom lounge" based on being obscene shapes

This one we called our "Pizza Americana":

The Chinese restaurant was too packed. Ended up doing sashimi. I ordered too much. Two orders of tuna and salmon sashimi, chopped scallop rolls, California rolls and spicy salmon rolls. I was hungry when ordering. file pic. Image Unavailable, Please Login

Too packed? Has social distancing gone out the window in BC?

Dinner was a cinch tonight. Because I didn't cook it, @SCFerrari did! [emoji2] We got a care package yesterday morning of lasagna and wings. Defrosted in the fridge, heated and enjoyed tonight.

Fettuccine a ragu (aka bolognese for y’all Americans), with fresh pasta. Our chickens give us 7 fresh eggs each day. This is the first time I’ve eaten pasta in over 13 months. I had three fork fulls for my girls.....

And for all y’all that continue to have white pasta I took a pic of my mixing bowl.... So please toss your pasta.... perché bisogna condire la pasta, cazzo!!!

The Chinese place had lots of people outside waiting for take out. Most places here are limiting the amount of people inside. Line ups at most places, grocery stores to banks. Its like what I saw in Cuba!

Tonight we had a strong hankering for chicken Phở (Vietnamese noodles & soup if you're not familiar - pronounced "Fuh" not "Foe")... some parts of the country have Phở restaurants practically on every street corner. One of our favorite things to "head out for lunch" for.... here near Seattle we have a zillion places to get Phở

But we seldom make it at home and tonight went all out - complete with the sprouts and cilantro and limes, with perfectly-done Phở rice noodles cooked to perfection.

Absolutely YUMMY! Not to sound boastful, but every bit as good as our favorite Phở place in town :)

Just homemade chicken stock for the most part (boiled down a chicken carcass we baked last weekend) with some added water. A bit of fresh ginger, fish sauce, dab of star anise, with chopped zucchini and shaved carrots. Not much else to the broth. Trickiest part is the rice noodles. They have to soak in cold water for a full hour before going in the pot or they just won't have the right consistency

OK, that doesn't sound too bad. Most online recipes I have seen for pho look to be an ordeal.

Lots of ideas in my head right now. Probably be doing this weekend. Plan on cooking pizza on the grill tonight. Just a boboli crust with pepperoni, onions, bell pepper, jalapenos and maybe some cherry tomatoes.

Boboli is the best of the pre-baked pizza crusts that we've tried.

Pheasant on the smoker, and fish tacos on the docket for this weekend. Hope to make rose petal jelly if my pectin arrives in time,
and chili, if I can find a chuck roast in the freezer.

Wife bought a can of this the last time she ventured out to the store, so that's likely a hint!

Nice... pheasant on the smoker. And rose petal jelly, what is that going on? Watching the British baking show they use rose water in some breads and we've wonder what that's like.
    Busy weekend cooking!
