I will preface this with the fact that I am reading these posts and responding in chronological order. If someone has stated 'stop this crap' in a later post, I haven't read it yet. If so, please delete my posts and don't think I am flouting the rules and ban me too!

That being said, you may have misinterpreted who I was referring to as trolls...

I would separate this 'crap' out from the original thread and leave it .... But I am sure that is an arduous task and understand why a volunteer is unwilling to spend the time to do so.

Happy to accommodate if members think a different moderator to tally the petitions so there is no bias.

I'm going to give it a full 2 weeks for other folks to come to @noone 's defense. I think he deserves a fair shot and if enough members say it was the wrong call, I'm not ashamed to admit I am wrong.

The specific context of the statement was what was the best 'mode' to experience the full viscerality. There are situations where the auto mode is warranted, as the 'Byrds' sing - a time and place.

Would I want to bang 'flappy paddles' as Clarkson says while drinking a Latte? Heavens no!

I think to understand those that have witnessed this thread solely as one that would leave a nasty taste, one that only evokes 'bullying' but also a 'censorship' of a view, however unpopular.

These two facets are profoundly troubling to me as well, and as someone that considers myself a contrarian and hopefully seeks to defend those are disenfranchised and fight for free speech - I can make sense of it.

I just ask one to review @noone1 behavior holistically, not just with this one thread. I am confident; if done so, you'll see why multitudes have called for @noone1 's ouster.

If not, I respect your honest judgement, and I will add anyone to the other 3 that have called for @noone1's reinstatement.

 

They were, but that's the thing - I enjoyed battling @noone1 - it was personally fun. So I let his behavior slide way more than other members. I didn't want to ban him. But members left, and right were getting bashed, and I got called out. I asked myself honestly, was I giving @noone1 leeway?

The answer was yes. The truth is, we let @noone1 get away with much more than other members. I think the reason was his tenure here, the entertainment factor, and for me, it's immaturely gratifying to prove somebody wrong 100 out 100 times.

But that's selfish of me, So I acted.

That said, I could be wrong, hence my act of allowing petitions. I think it's fair to give @noone1 a fair shot at reinstatement. (mods here know, I'm selfishly rooting for him, and hoping more folks come vote for him)

So far we're at three. Maybe more will come to his defense.

I know this thread is an accident by the side of the road, but I want to keep it open so all petitioners for @noone1 have the opportunity to voice it. While I know many of you are no fan of @noone1 - I want to give him a fair chance for reinstatement for those that do have positive feelings for him.

Shadowfax simply stated his honest opinion.

I do want to make it clear; he did not withdraw his support because of the insult I reminded him of; he had already shown grace and integrity for ignoring the constant abuses he was subjected. Shadowfax retired the vote because he understood that while he has tolerance for those that constantly lash out at him, he realized others might not have the same level of patience, and it does ultimately cause disharmony on these boards.

It is a credit to him to reconsider and understand the why behind my ban, much respect from me for that.

Just wanted to make sure you are aware that the your co-endorser which you based your original views on has reconsidered, that said I still have you down as one of the 3 that support @noone1

Paul, with all due respects, please don't make the mistake twice. Allowing him to come back after giving him so many ultimatum before and especially after this whole drama is only going to serve as "positive reinforcement" to troll like him. All of us who have been parents and grandparents know this.

Count me #2 after @ttforcefed . I will also leave if he somehows gets to whine his way back.

 

I wont leave but its utterly disgraceful if he is allowed to return. Forget the history what he has said and what he has done. You can argue both sides of the coin. But there was something that led to many people asking him to be banned and for you @paulchua to finally pull the trigger to ban him. Is all that just now ignored because 2 people came to his defense? 200 are probably sitting on the sidelines happy he is gone.

You made the decision, stick with it. Not even bringing up the fact that he tried to make 2 different accounts after he was banned to get back in which I also believe is a violation of the rules in an of itself. So now by reinstating him you are encouraging people to create aliases?

 

I hear you 3 loud and clear! I just want to make sure that I leave no doubt in anyone's minds that @noone1 is given a fair shot.

I have not heard anything definitive from other folks after my explanation for ban, with the qualifier that their silence would be considered an abstention, unless they confirm with me know they still want him back. Folks I'm sure are busy as well, so I wanted to give at least 2 weeks so all opinions are heard.

Will there be more? So far nobody has come rushing to his defense (besides the aforementioned), I suspect unless an out pouring of support occurs in the next few weeks, the original ban will stand.

Allowing him back would just provide ongoing proof that the site cares more about clicks than quality.
