I think this is a garage door remote, but I also have never seen one.

A garage door opener was my second thought, and I couldn't find any info for that either.

I am jealous. None of my door keys have the rubber cover!!

It looks too small for a garage door opener. And why would Ferrari make a garage door opener? Makes more sense for a remote opener. I have never seen one before this.

    Regards,
    Jerry

Yeah, I think I got a couple from him years back. But that is the ignition key. I haven't seen a door key blank with rubber cover.

Probably was dealer installed option. If you watch the old Top Gear 348 initial review Jeremy locks/unlocks the door with a remote. See

They are for sale in various places. I had to get a pair when I bought my 400i.

You need to know which code key you need to use though. Here is a code 4.

    Thanks.

Until I looked at the price for an uncut key for the door locks....!!! I paid way less for the folding ignition key from a board member here and that included cutting the key by sending him some close up pictures of my current key.

I guess I just don't need the rubber cover that badly! :)

    Regards,
    Jerry

Don't give up. Keep an eye out, I bet you can find some for less, even if they are replicas like that folding key you bought.

I think I recall having seen that remote in France on a "t" I checked out and if I remember right, it was to activate/disactivate the car alarm / anti-theft system installed by the Ferrari importer locally (?).

I had the same one with my Alfa Romeo 33 QV. I cannot recall the name.. I believe it was Italian make. I could activate the alarm with it and at the same time locking the doors. Went via the alarm system. It's a onepress button fob. I had no brand on it and iron chain, no leather one. I put a wet decal of alfa on it. In those day it was not common to take pics of what you do. Obviously there was no facebook, Instagram etc. :)

I have dozens of pics of the Alfa, but not of the keys :-S
