What would happen if some idiot managed to overfill when changing oil & drove the car for about 10 miles....now getting a puff of smoke when starting. The idiot did remove the excess oil.

    Asking for a friend. ;)

If said excess was removed, said idiot should be fine.

Speaking for a friend who exp this... you can still have puddles in the upper intake after lowering oil level in engine....

Worth a bore scope peak in the tb’s.

purely speaking form my buddies experience of course. He’s a dumb arse.

true story: Neighbor lady's husband was out of town and she poured the better part of a gallon of antifreeze into the oil reservoir to get the light to turn off. Wasn't too long until more lights came on. :D

I’ll tell the dumb ass to look at that, I believe he needs to paint the Plenum covers anyway, so they might as well come off for inspection. And the I....sorry, he.....should be able to look in and see how much oil is in there. Thanks again....for my friend.

An expert friend told me that the idiot did not get all the excess oil out after all. The remainder is in the plenum.

Man i know had just finished rebuilding his old diesel landrover engine, only needed to put the water in the radiator and give it, its first start. He had to go away for the week and wifes car not working so she put the rad cap on, dropped the bonnet and away she went.
Land Rover got her the 7 miles to where she was going and kept going until 2 miles from home when it seized up solid. Poor man was depressed for weeks and we had to work with him.

Thanks, will pull the hallowed red covers tonight and take a look. I bought a 12 pack of redline and in my rush put 10 in instead of 9. It wasn't until I got back and looked at the empties....and had that sinking feeling like a Sunday morning after a good night, counting the empties....and realized I'd given the car one too many. now I'm seeing a lot of smoke on starting. There was always some, but it's a pretty good cloud now.
