Given what happened with the 575m and the seller it’s worth waiting;)

Haha no chance. She’s so spoiled. I baby her and take good care of her. Good memory though! That brief thought was before receiving the car on old tires... and certainly before my purchase payment left my bank account! Safe to say my perspective has changed since lol

We have to have a recession before a recovery. You don't get to simply "skip the painful few years" and then go back to normal. A lot of people are selling cars, that isn't a good sign. And the prices on everything other than the top 1 percent of blue chippers are coming down. I've seen multiple driver quality 512trs sell for under 100 already. You're living in a fantasy if you think there will be no recession, and that classic car prices will remain roughly the same 6-24 months from now. The CC market is going to get O-B-L-I-T-E-R-A-T-E-D. If it hadn't been a bubble then there wouldn't have been as much room for it to fall. The fed pumped in a bunch of money back in the late 80s early 90s recession too. The recession still happened, and the CC market was decimated and took 20 plus years to recover. Plan accordingly. This is 1989 part 2.

The bull run was 10 years long, it had to end sometime. I find it remarkable how people remain in denial during the dead cat bounce period. I guess we were supposed to have a 20 year bull run with no recession LMAO. It's almost like saying "i'm going to go to a casino and win 30 roulette spins in a row."

Congrats on the purchase! The price was certainly a little higher than some recent sales but not totally out of line at $105 + major. I bought my TR near the height of the market 3 years ago so everything stings a little now! Enjoy the car!

Congrats. You paid what you wanted to pay all that matters. Did you pay too much compared to some others ? Yes but maybe in 2 years you will have had the steal of the century. Hopefully it is a top car. Mine had the same mileage and i had paid 100k for it and Feralc has now won 2 concours with it so definitely possible !
    Enjoy in good health !

i regret selling the marenello, i am bidding on one on bats and saw this tr and always wanted one. after i sold my 550, i bought a california-30. i bought a maserati levante wich i love and sold my cali. i put a deposit on a roma and now that the factory just opened yesterday, i think its a year out from delivery so i needed somthing to hold me over. i am sure the dealer will buy it from me when my roma comes in.

355?? Don't do it! She sure is a sexy beast...one of the most beautiful Ferraris...but like a lot of sexy women....will eat you out of house and home lol

My good buddy has a 355 and it's a love hate relationship with him. It's one of the most unreliable and expensive to maintain Ferraris out there yet he keeps dumping money into it. Yet, it doesn't work half the time. I keep telling him to get rid of it and just buy a 360.

If you do want one, you can trust Gabe at European. He used to service the Testarossa all the way back to when he was head tech at central Florida Ferrari.

I get where you're coming from but in 2016 , I test drove a 2014 Aventador Roadster that was 414k at Lamborghini Sarasota. Lamborghini orange county has a 2014 Roadster for 289k ...and this is only the beginning of the drop.
The amount I would lose from a couple of Porsches and a couple of Ferraris is far less than the coming loss on the Aventador series.

....and in all honesty, I actually do want to buy a few lesser level cars guilt free for just the enjoyment.

    Congrats!!

I just kinda scratch my head at this though. This is the newer stuff that's going to drop. I don't want to be a debbie downer but this is the valuation thread.
But, if it doesn't matter to you, who am I to say what your timing to act is compared to mine.

    Congrats again!!

Sorry bro, but I don't know where you get this idea.

I only read this yesterday and feel it has vindicated my current strategy.

While not the "happy talk" on cnbc, it will give you a good look at economic reality. I've been reading here since 2014 and everything has been born out by my own personal business experience and the different authors.

It takes time for sentiment to change. Right now, there's still optimism. That will give way in 6 months.

Please read that article I shared....it's exactly what happened in 2008 and what's on the way.....no matter how much the fed keeps printing.

    lol

Shhh... how do you think I can afford an Aventador Roadster ;)

I just like to share things I believe that can help one make more informed economic decisions.

I remember when I was about to buy a 4400 sqft home in 2017, my buddy shoved a book called "Millionaire next door " by Thomas J Stanley in my face. Needless to say, I didn't buy the home and the book changed my life and perspective.

One driver went on BAT for low hundreds, I saw one on rm sell for 90, and another across the pond for 90 usd. The one over the pond had NO TAKERS at 90k despite having a fresh major and no issues, and being red. They are going right back to where they were which was 70-80 grand. If the recession is bad enough, they could get lower than that who knows. The very Low mileage cars that are selling for 130-150 now will fall down there as well to the 80s, 90s at least. "time capsule" was a fad that was being pushed by the auctions and brokers to the "investor crowd" that piled into the market after seeing the prices explode. It was a complete con job and a laughable thing to witness. Even in 2016 when the market was at its peak it really hadn't taken hold yet. But the longer it lasted, the snakes began to come up with more and more snake oil to sell. The 180 grand e39 m5 for example that i've quoted numerous times. Which was probably a shill bid. NEver before had a car like that sold for a penny more than 20-25 grand (most 50k mile nice cars were mid to high teens back then). Then all of a sudden , weeks prior to that auction there were a few articles being circulated around the internet about how "special" the mass produced car was simply due to its low mileage. And that the auction had to pull a "record" price. And what do you know, it pulled that ludicrous figure. Voila, here come all the sheep ready to buy buy buy. And the brokers and auctions had PLENTY of those massed produced cars to dump on their dumb asses.

    https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2018-08-16/how-does-a-bmw-sports-sedan-double-in-value-over-16-years

Check it out, they even called the estimate and pegged it within four grand! Somehow, they just new that this car was going to sell at an 8x what it would typicaly be worth. They just knew! LOL

"The reason that this car is valuable, and the ways in which that value is determined, says as much about how the collectible car market is structured as it does about the inherent qualities of the car itself, says David Brynan, a senior specialist at Gooding & Co. “The collectible market is driven by insiders, and they assign value to things,” he explains."

Tell us David who are these "insiders?" LMAO! :)

Thanks for sharing. Economic awareness and comprehension are so very important yet often at a deficit. And yes, ZH is an informative site—have been reading it regularly since 2010. It’s good to synthesize their views with other sources though, as they are not immune to sensationalizing.

The car had a salvaged title due to an accident that is why it got sold for cheap.
