We have been a bit crazy the last few weeks. I run an IT consulting firm and about 70% of our clients are in healthcare all over the country. First we had a huge rush to transition many staff to work at home and now we are dealing with changing access due to massive layoffs at our clients. Many of the specialists (ophthalmology, podiatry, dental, orthopedic, etc) are only seeing emergency patients and have laid off 60 to 80% of their staff. Hope everyone is taking this seriously and staying safe.
Wow that’s a high percentage. So you mean to say that a Dr. office can’t pay the staff for a week off?
It’s going to be more than a week I work in biotech/pharma everyone who walks in to a medical facility is a suspect for having exposure if the patient is being touched, stuck with a needle, etc there is risk of exposure to the staff
You are a good guy I am in no way saying that dumping staff is right, but it does happen The stuff that kind of annoys me is the guy who runs Jam productions, the big concert shop in town sends an email to his concert going database asking them to contribute funds for the staff he dumped
Well I guess the bigger the Business the larger the appetite in cash to keep it running. So if you donate do they get something in return later? I doubt it
Everything is case by case The small operator with tight margins may have not have sufficient cash to keep paying folks If you have specialized staff and you dump them then good luck trying to get new folks when the situation normalizes Regarding Jam, I didn’t see anything about what we will do to thank you for supporting our now on the street staff
Yes you are correct about specialized staff. Good marble and granite workers were in high demand until mid 2000s and they would leave to go work somewhere else for .50cents more. So I would give paid holidays and paid vacation
Business as usual here, partially remote and in office until this is over, still surprised on how many other people are on the road. Hasn’t shortened my commute by maybe 10 mins
Really, I went into Wrigleyville ? last Wednesday. and it was a 30 minute drive from 90 and 355 at 7 am.
I commute down 12 into the suburbs, definitely less people on the roads but must be the wrong ones still on it
Imagine popping Out of my Countach in a hazmat suit. If people are fighting over masks I would be flamed I’m sure
I will be at my house in central Illinois next week. We can meet in the middle of you want To go drive and lunch
That's cool , im not really a week day guy BUT, Let me ask you,,,, how far do you drive your classics from home?,, Actually how far away does anyone here drive the classics from home?
in my Ferrari last summer I drove to the upper part of Wisconsin and then to central Wisconsin which was about 500 miles total.
ac works, and no challenges. it was fun. would i do this with the countach? i drove from Milwaukee to my other home(about 250 miles) also without issue. it rained a little day. That was stressful part
