More or less explains his RB years which are no different than Hamilton at MB. Having the fastest car helps take loads of pressure off, unless you have a fast teammate which Hamilton did in Rosberg, not so much in Bottas. That said wish Seb would retire at the end of this year but take a victory or 2.

As far as the new Ferrari driver is concerned, I'd take Ricci over Sainz. McLaren in 2021 with MB power could be interesting for Dan if he goes there.

If Sainz goes to Ferrari and Ricci to McLaren I'm thinking Seb will be at Aston Martin.

No, Seb is not "building" up another team.

It's either Mercedes or retirement according to a just released German article.

MB would have to be mental to take him on.

I'd love to see him go there and get pulverized by yet another team mate.

Wonder if he already has a place secured at merc in the same way he secretly had it with Ferrari on his last year at Red Bull

I have'nt seen anything with regards to Seb going to Mercedes.

    Realistically, Seb with Hamilton.......I don't think so.IMO.

He lost "face" with Leclerc and with Hamilton it would be a "humiliation".

I just don't see it happening.

It would be a terrible formula. Pressure and expectations (i.e. failure to live up to them) is what has dismantled a guy once thought of as being among history's best. To go to that team with another WDC intent on establishing his legacy would not work out well at all. Hamilton would welcome him, of that I'm certain, but what would Seb's expectations be? To operate as Ham's #2? (probably more acceptable than operating as Charles' for Seb).

Perhaps it's already a done deal...otherwise, why would he mention it?

Senna never drove for free, but he did offer to drive the Williams for free in 1993, it was poorly written on my end, I was not complete, sorry. I would disagree on, you get what you pay for there are numerous professional athletes that are paid very large compensation packages that do not perform and create a long term burden for their teams.

Seb should retire before he loses the little dignity he has left...trying to go to Mercedes? Lmao he will be obliterated, just be content w the newey-gifted wdc titles and tell stories to the kids.

I think that Vettel should consider a try to win Le Mans like Alonso did; if not that I can see him in Touring Cars.

In ALL the cost cap proposals, driver salaries are exempt. As well as the salaries of a few other key team personnel.

Sebastian Vettel pushed Ferrari into confirming that he’s leaving by reportedly leaking the news himself on Monday night.

Vettel and Ferrari announced early Tuesday morning that this year would be the German’s final season with Ferrari.

After 14 race wins but no World titles, Vettel said the two parties had “realised that there is no longer a common desire to stay together beyond the end of this season”.

Vettel is believed to be over Ferrari’s politics, especially as that has swung in his team-mate Charles Leclerc’s favour.

The German believes that the internal politics of the Italians speak too strongly against him,” F1 journalist Ralf Bach wrote in Auto Bild.

“The German broke several agreements with Leclerc in 2019 and the Monegasque is considered the Ferrari man of the future and enjoys the unconditional support of the team.”

Both the four-time World Champion and Ferrari wished one another well for the future and will now look at their respective options for 2021.

Vettel’s comments about not having a “desire” to work together lead to some speculation that the German may have raced his last grand prix in Ferrari red.

Grand Prix Diary claimed that reports from Italy suggest that Vettel’s Ferrari days are already done.

‘As and when the 2020 season starts, Antonio Giovinazzi will take his place, ahead of whoever gets the drive permanently from 2021,’ it stated.

However, the Daily Mail says that’s not the case.

‘He will see out this season, if it restarts,’ it reports, ‘in the red overalls he has worn since joining the Scuderia in 2015 in the hope of emulating his boyhood hero Michael Schumacher in championship success.’

The Daily Mail also claims Vettel forced Ferrari into making the announcement, wanting the rumours over and done with.

‘He fell victim to an internal review that decided he was surplus to requirements, with 22-year-old Monegasque Charles Leclerc the undisputed main man at the Scuderia.

‘”They no longer believed in Sebastian,” said one Italian source close to the scene.

‘It is understood that negotiations did not even get as far as discussing money before being called off.

‘Vettel then leaked the news in the German media on Monday night, which forced Ferrari into issuing official confirmation on Tuesday morning.’

Ferrari is believed to be on the verge of announcing Carlos Sainz as Leclerc’s 2021 team-mate.

    Me too!

The only reasons I see: 1) Ferrari wanted a clear number 2, like during Schumacher era. 2) Sainz accepted a much lower salary than Ricciardo.
