Hi Guys, I am looking to get a lift to be able to store the 550 on top of the gt. Can anyone recommend one ? Cheers marce Image Unavailable, Please Login
Height of the lift will be the issue. I think there are low lifts in a four post configuration will be best, side posts are 7ft approx, 3-4 ton. But, you need to make sure it stops before it pushes the car through the ceiling!
Tufflift sell good units. I’ve got one. But definitely you need to check height clearances. This web site will give you dimensions. Price included delivery and installation. Great value https://tufflift.com.au/products/professional/hoists/
I bought a Radum about 7 years ago - $3,000. I had to assemble it myself, but it's the best tool I ever owned - I hate stooping
Oh well, seeing this thread is running anyway, what would you chaps suggest for a garage where height is a problem? I’ve often wondered what would be the absolute minimum I’d need to make it work. Have a new HOS coming in a month or two so would prefer not to leave it outside.
You really could do with one of each. 4 post much better for storage but 2 post better for any suspension/steering servicing.
I have a 4 post Pro Park 8s (its the same as the Tufflift TLV3.6PH-S), and with a 2.65 m ceiling height I can just stack a 355C & GT4, the clearance is about 150mm per car.
It’d just be for storage. I wouldn’t be doing any of that kind of work. That’s very interesting. I’d need to stack the 355 and a Golf wagon - combined height re 2620mm. I just measured the garage floor to ceiling at around 2760mm so probably too tight? I wonder how I might liberate another 100mm or so of ceiling height?!
If there’s a manhole into the roof space post a pic and I might be able to give you a possible / not possible answer...
Thanks Karen. There's no manhole above the garage. It's the bottom story of a two story place, although directly above is a balcony (see pics). I reckon it may be just a tad too tight, although if I could find 100mm (even 50mm) it might be doable. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Maybe I should dig downwards! Lol.
File 100mm of the roof...Not sure what % of the car you would have left...I’ll leave that to the experts to work out....
I've seen that done. If your slab is 300mm or more thick, you can safely take 150mm out of it just where the car goes (but not up to the load bearing wall. Get an engineer to look at it.
Yeah I think it's clear if I want to pursue this (which I do but I think it's a long shot) I'll have to get experts out to have a look. That lift that Mike has seems to be the most plausible, so if they have an agent here in Adelaide I can call them and take it from there.
Steve your floor will most probably be 100mm with SL 82 steel. Ian’s idea will solve your problem as a concrete saw would cut that no problem. You would have to engineer it because of your footings....
