Actually I do recall the first F40 I saw, and like many ‘first’ spots, it was outside the Peninsula Hotel in HK... different day was a Countach. Everyone else went there for Tea; I just went for carspotting!
An old bloke told me years ago if you can’t spot the Cant you are the One...All of us in NSW and QLD are safe..
Yep 2013 while working and living in Germany. Was staying in town called Mayen which was about a 30 min drive to Nurburgring. We all used to go to the track after work and do a few laps everyday.
Similar for me, I lived in Essen from '78 to '81. We'd drive down Friday night and get about 5 laps in on Saturday, leaving when the queue got too long, usually mid afternoon. Cost 40 marks (10 pounds) per lap, plus your tyres were shredded after a couple of visits. Never saw exotics though, lots of modified BMW's and a smattering of 911's.
here's a photo, the Alfa was at the end of the queue, hoping his engine would cool down in time! Image Unavailable, Please Login
It was great but you shared the track with heaps of other cars that were your standard run of the mill cars. had to be careful as they would struggle to get out of the way quick enough. It cost about 30 euro a lap back then. It was good just to spectate and watch all the crashes as there was one everyday. Didn't make to much money while there as we were spending it all at the track and cars. plus it was always and the end of winter so the track was slippery. I will have to dig out my old iphone and go pro for pics and footage. The straight you would go flat out and hope the slower cars would move out of they way. Worth every cent though
