Had planned to go back next year with my dad to celebrate 200 years of Independence since Ottoman rule. The war of independence began in the town my ancestors are from and one of them was a leader of the revolution, so a big deal for dad (and myself) to take part in the celebrations. Unfortunately dad had a stroke a year ago and isn’t very mobile these days, so not looking good [emoji853]

Awesome....I can’t wait until we are allowed to have our big extended family get together again....When Jules first came into the family she couldn’t understand why everyone shouted at each other in a conversation....I had to explain that’s normal for wogs when they get passionate...

I could also have mentioned the mindless bureaucracy that's everywhere and the constant intrusion of the state into everyday life.

quite possible it was and 87 model that had 100k kms on it originally was from france. Still it was great to drive around the track regardless of performance

 

My mum use to cry every time she came back from visiting my dad's side of the family .

She said "they always pick on me and give me a hard time" , ... dad had to explain that it meant they liked her and felt comfortable slagging her off

I got 2 fines , one going to the hotel and one leaving it

Certainly there are pretentious Aussies that delight in telling everyone else through social media of their exploits & yes cities have heavy traffic etc, however in my experience the driving through Europe's mountains, passes & some motorways in a sports car, tops anything here in Australia or most anywhere else in the world.

I do a trip most years with 4-5 mates for the pure driving of the magnificent roads.. pick your time of year & there is hardly anyone to bother you, virtually no police (& worst you get is a possible fine 6 months later in the mail), one gets to see breath taking scenery along the way, stay in quaint villages or in selective cities, drive sensational roads, excellent surfaces in mostly great condition... frankly the majority of roads if you're selective with your route planning, leave the condition of our Aus roads (barring freeways) looking like horse & buggy tracks. We generally hire cars out of Frankfurt or London & spend 2 weeks together touring..simply sensational driving.

I've had some of the best drives on public roads in Europe, Wales & Scotland I've ever had anywhere.
