Hello, this is my first post and apologies for posting a query already. I’m from the Philippines. I have a 458 Italia imported from Dubai. Whenever I’m in sport mode on the highway, whenever I slowly creep up speed and reach 100kph, there seems to be a cutoff on the engine and the asr/cst light flashes. But if I step on the throttle more aggressively, it will do this momentarily then go all the way past 120kph. It’s unnerving and weird. It’s like the engine will cough then immediately recover. Makes it extremely difficult to cruise at 100 to 120 kph which is the speed limit here. Anything below 100kph, no problem at all.
This does not happen in race mode. Just wanted to find out if any of you guys have experienced this. Was thinking it’s preprogrammed into cars from the Middle East but it seems weird. I know the speed alarm is programmed into these cars, but not actually control the engine. Thanks in advance for any info!

I suspect you have the wrong size tires on the car.

Isn;t there some weird speed limiter on Gulf cars - I recall an old thread covering this in the 458 section

Thanks for the replies. I have the original size tires on the stock wheels. weird thing is does not happen on race mode.

If this is programmed on gulf cars, can the ECU be reprogrammed for another spec?

    thanks

@windsock. Sorry my mistake, you’re right after double checking it’s not the original tire sizes on the stock wheels. I just got the car and I assumed they were the stock sizes. After checking with the previous owner l, he put speciale size tires on the stock wheels. 245/35 20 front and 305/30 20 rear.
Would that confuse the Stability system?
    Thanks in advance!

In race mode the traction control is much less sensitive then in sport mode. I have seen this several times.
Depending on the brand here is a rough rev per mile.
Stock 788 front and 741 rear
Your tires, some adjustments depending on brand but it gives you an ideal. I use Pirelli for the comparison.
The sizes you provided 778 front and 765 rear you have decreased the front wheel speed but increased the rear wheel speed and the stability control interprets this as wheel spin and interacts. stock sizes or sizes that will be close to the same rotational ratio will resolve the issue.

My Testarossa, originally a Gulf car, had a speed warning "bong" at IRC 120KMH - that was a simple unplug before exotic modern electronics!

The sub selection to adjust the speed alarm doesn’t show up on my left tft menu. I’m thinking Must be specific to gulf cars. It’s fixed at 120kph.
I don’t know if there is something that can be done about this.

    @windsock.
Change tires to 458 specs. Problem solved. Thanks so much for the help!
    Appreciate it.

Same issue with me. Put Speciale spec MSC2s on my Italia, and power cuts of at 62mph in sport mode. Not in Race Mode or CT off. Good to know this, as someone told me it could be the abs pump going bad - that would have been a costly unnecessary repair. Thanks @windsock. I will switch back to Italia spec tires next tire change

On previous generation cars (F360/F430), the Gulf car bong seems to be activated (or deactivated?) by a ground wire on one of the instrument panel plugs. I wasn't able to identify a similar wire/pin in the 458 wiring diagrams. It's probably buried in acronyms and technobabble.
