Hello, I am a new Ferrari owner based in the U.K. and have purchased a 1988 Euro spec Testarossa. I am looking to buy a different exhaust to make it sound a bit more like a Ferrari should!

I am new to the Ferrari world and have read about the likes of Tubi, ANSA etc but wondered if anyone here has had any experience of these and different exhausts?

I want it to sound good but at the same time I used to have a C4 Corvette which had such a drone it would give you a banging headache after an hour on the motorway...

Any advice would be much appreciated!

    Tom.

I have a capistro, I like it but I'd the engine is idling 200ish rpm too high then it drones at stoplights. Overall it sounds great though.

Koenig Specials, I have one of their systems on my BBI. I believe that it’s manufactured by Fuchs. Sounds incredible.

I had a Tubi Style installed on my testarossa back in the days, it was a huge improvement over the very muted standard exhaust - and it was also spitting flames from time to time :)
It was not supposed to be road legal but in the mid-2000s in France nobody cared, I'm not sure what the current situation is.

From the few people who have owned one or seen one installed that I know of, the Kreissieg is expensive and on top of this expense will require a fabricator to install because it's not high enough quality standard to be a bolt-in affair. At that point you might as well save your money and go full custom.

this ^ hands down my favorite sounding exhaust for a Testarossa but do not know about the performance gains from it.

Go to youtube and listen to some clips of it.

I have Tubi on mine and really like it, but am quite tempted by the Fuchs system per YouTube clips.

Thanks for the replies, I’m leaning towards Tubi I think, but I have heard people talk of Capristo aswell?

I have had a kreissieg on friends car and I had Tubi and ansa on mine ... it’s not even close, capristo is nice but it doesn’t capture the pitch I would want.
Kreissieg will set u back around 10k but it’s something else.
For tubi eurospares is a partner in the UK they will get you a great price!

Honestly most companies kinda lie. Capristo claims their best set up gets you +40hp so 420hp just like a 512TR...now If u ask turbo-Joe and other pros they don’t seem to necessarily agree with that;)

Nat, if your day job doesn’t work out, you definitely should start selling Kreisseig! You piqued my interest, and so I looked it up on YouTube. One can hear what you’re talking about. It is a pitch reminiscent of an F355 with Capristo installed; however, it loses some of that boxer-style growl. Both sound great, but it just comes down to preference of course.

I hope it works out though

The Kreissieg pitch really reminds me when I heard it in the flesh to the old 80’s Ferrari f1 car. They sure sounded good but didn’t finish lots of races lol.
Kreissieg has the high pitch; Capristo the growl;)
    U choose; can’t go wrong!

I always assume zero hp when it comes to doing exhausts on naturally aspirated cars

Keep in mind some people remove the catalytic converter and replace it with a straight pipe when putting an aftermarket exhaust on, this is also another variable to take into account when watching youtube videos, make sure you pay attention to who says the cat's been removed because it does change the sound of the exhaust and you might not get what you're after.

Tubi on the 12 sounds wonderful. And the only exhaust muffler where a collection of cars will gather just to listen to the car when driving. That never happens with the tubi on my 348 or the Ansa on my 360 (way too obnoxious so went back to stock). FWIW

The gain comes from main cat removal and exhaust. I bet it could be 20 or so after that. I have a capristo and no drone and sounds much better than
my tubi on another TR I owned. Bolted right in with no mods.
