How much earlier? 8 years (from Monza reveal) would be 2026, will an Icona be revealed at the same time as the next hypercar?

And, why the rush, based on many apparently substantive rumors the Monza did not sell out...

There is something magical about the aperta that’s the only v8 that would make me hesitate as as v12 guy i would say tdf s the one you’d want to remember for rest of your life, it would scare you at times, please you when you admire the lines, and remind you of Ferrari previous glorious models 275 Gtb and 250 gto being to me a modern interpretation of those. Tdf wins.

My understanding is that the next Icona will come before the LaF replacement.
Also not sure if it sold out or not but I heard of an early car changing hands for 2m+ CHF over here. Given that the list price was 20% lower, I am pretty sure the buyer could have gotten it from the dealer if he could
Also good luck to whoever sold it, as they much be in breach of their contract with their dealer!

I think you point out the biggest theoretical risk to Ferrari today. If they take the path of Porsche and increase production at the same pace going forward as Porsche has done the past three decades, they are done. But Ferrari do not view themselves the same way as Porsche. Ferrari is the top brand in the world, it is historically the top exotic car, and though both brands have fanatic fan bases, Ferrari is in every way a much more exclusive brand. On a Sunday drive, I see lots of Porsches on the road. Hardly ever a Ferrari.

I just can't imagine a scenario where the decision makers at SpA throw away the brand's largest asset - it's exclusivity. They are paring back production this year and we probably do not see pre-Covid production targets for a while. But they will continue to upset their customers in their quest for constant margin expansion.

:) Yes, I also will happily fall on the sword by accepting an 812VS allocation :)

Please accept my apology as I was in no way criticizing you or anyone for saying Ferrari is not exclusive.

But why number them ? For who ? They sold all the Pista and Pista Spider they wanted. if they number them all it helps is 100 people (using your numbers ) with maybe an upside. I think the Icona project is going to be the real game changer here for limited numbers and the next one far more desirable than the Monza (from what I hear) . If they make it numbered at 1200 812 Vs is that still the same ? The Pista Spider is pretty rare , just above TDF in numbers but has almost no extra desire. 550 B and 575 SA were limited numbers , one of them limited individually, but they barely muster more than 300 k gap. 599 GTO sat for ages at 200k GBP had a huge jump now back at 400k plus , TDF 1 M now around 600 k . The hook being the end of the V12 as we know it. the VS 812 at 500k GBP may have some upside, might. As this is the end of a technology line, it would still be a surprise that they do an about turn on special series numbering. I am sure they would ask first "how many 500k 812 Vs could you sell " before numbering it, or at least settling on the number . We will know soon enough.

I take your point however I think numbering the last of this technology is more to draw a line under the NA V12- knowing that there are enough People who would pay a £50 k plus premium for a car being numbered - at ( my guesstimate of 812 numbered cars ) adds over £40million additional profit for ferrari for adding a small £5 dedication plate per car ...still , you’re right we will know soon enough . Hopefully this year .....
