Forget the endless discussion of modern V8 Fiats, here's something that's actually interesting at an auction house. An Aussie car, restored by Carle Rheinberger (and later Sando Terzini ) passed through CTS then sold to the UK. The last SV sold was in 2018 for US$2.2m. This will be a good test of the market, being one of 11 RHD cars. https://www.silverstoneauctions.com/events/2020-auctions/the-silverstone-classic-live-online-auction-2020/the-silverstone-classic-live-online-auction-2020/classic-cars/1972-lamborghini-miura-sv
And $77k for an engine rebuild that involved keeping the original pistons and just changing the rings, hilarious
What a great description of this car this dealer has for sale. https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/details/1989-ferrari-testarossa-manual/OAG-AD-18829052/?Cr=12
Reckon!!,you'd think a bloke of his status,on here, would be able to pick the correct thread for his spam.
I know, only Terzini would have the hide to run that kind of BS. Lambo used the same Borgo pistons as every other Italian manufacturer. They have to run so much bore clearance that worn ring grooves are guaranteed after relatively short mileage.
I have a photo of that car sitting next to my GT4 way back. Funny thing said to my wife at the time by Gerry Kent's wife , was that Gerry carried lots of tools in the boot (mostly greasy from lots of use ) and they had rolled over his wife's new expensive coat and she was most unimplessed and some choice words spoken. Gerry lived down the road from me and was a lovely man to me and my family, his passing was very sad
Carl has the photos. However, try and find a Miura that didn't have an accident back in the day. At least they're (relatively) easy to repair, having a monocoque tub made up of welded steel channel and plate. You could argue that a repair in Australia would be better than the sh*tty welding the Italians did in the first place. e.g. You only have to take a few panels off any Testarossa to see how badly made they were.
"Will the McLaren F1 be your answer to the Ferrari F40?" Gordon Murray: "Hmm... I don't think we have anyone at McLaren who can weld that badly..."
