Looked around but couldn't find a definitive answer. I bought some Swissvax leather softener and the bottle states "For Napa leather only". Before I go and mess up my seats... is the 550 leather interior considered Napa leather? I know it has to do with the tanning process. The Swissvax is a thin liquid so I'm hesitant to apply unless I can confirm this

Window sticker for my 2000 550 says it has Connelly (sp) leather. It is made by Poltrona Frau. They offer Elisir Di Lunga Vita bottles kit that they recommend for maintaining their leather. Not cheap (over $200). I've used Leatherique products on many cars with good results.

    Yes, it's Connolly leather.

This neat little foldout came in my owner's manual pouch...not sure if it's original to the car. And "Connolly" is mis-spelled as "Connelly" on my window sticker, too.

Absolutely correct Hwyman, MY1997 has Connolly leather, MY1998 onward has Poltrona Frau. Both leather are full grain (or Nappa), so back to the initial question, the answer is yes. The Connolly booklet was part of the owner manual pouch for MY1997.

Note: Connolly went out of business in 2002.

My 2003 456 has Connolly leather standard and is misspelled on the monroney too.

Correct, cars produced in 1997 use Connolly, then from 1998 Poltrona Frau (LdM "owned" company) leather has been used instead. I wrote MY...but I meant to indicate the production year.
