My heart bleeds for him. It must be awful trying to get by on £20m. a year, even when you don't have to pay any tax.

£20M a year for a top F1 driver is peanuts compared to what some other sports pay.

How's that? One bad weekend decides a championship?

This championship was decided months ago.

'Link(s)? I missed that news. I can't see Lewis just "letting" Bottas "have" the championship.
Nope. 'Don't buy it. Not for an instant.

I'm calling it now. Hamilton / Mercedes.

    I'd LOVE to be wrong.

If F1 salaries were significantly cut, then there would be more incentive for drivers like Hamilton to move on and make way for new talent. Those who stay on, would be the ones who do it for the winning, not the money. The racing would be none the worse for losing a few "stars". Indeed, we might even get back to how it was before drivers' salaries ballooned - real sportsmen, doing it for the love of their sport.

You just need to make it more dangerous. Then the drivers would 'retire' earlier.

Though I understand what you're feeling, I think you're neglecting that to make it to F1, there IS an inherent love for that which one does very well. Wanting to make as much $$$ as possible whilst there is not such a "bad" thing. In what profession is the same not true?

Bottas always had good speed, but you have to beat Hamilton with consistency.

It´s not the first time that Bottas beats Hamilton on a single lap. But if Hamilton had not screwed it up (twice) I think he had very good chances of beating Bottas on race pace.

Having said that, if Hamilton keeps screwing it up and Bottas grows a pair, maybe he can do a Rosberg.

Yes its not good for Bottas if he has to depend on Hamilton to screw up

Hamilton closing on Bottas might of been gearbox issue? We will never know the truth about keeping the Merc off the curbs.

If I was Merc, offer him half of what he gets. Where's he going to go? It's the same as when McLaren brought in Alonso and paid him a ridiculous amount of money. For what? There wasn't a choice then and Lewis doesn't really have one now. He'll tie with the WDC this year, but needs Merc to get the 8th which he'll get next year if he stays given the rules. Ferrari have no chance of making a comeback from where they are today until the new cars debut. This year and next are a total lock for Merc. RedBull will steal a win here or there but that's it.

Hamilton again showing battling your wingman teammate is not the same as all others. Can’t wait to see him melting against Max and having to accept whatever Merc are willing to pay him. Would love him on a 1 year deal to get some of his own medicine against Bottas.

It is not consistency it is tire longevity:
Lewis gets more high speed time out of each set of tires than Bottas (or anyone else I can see).

Lewis also generally makes fewer mistakes.
