Stroll is nowhere near Perez. Race-craft is lacking....it's the car.

Lance did a fine job overtaking today and drove a good race, just a tenth behind Perez who was voted driver of the day.

Perez had damage. Lets not make that to be skill instead of damage affecting Perez car. Lance drove and passed and took forever at it when he needed to dispatch Ricci and could not quickly. The lack of skills vs Perez is glaring. Perez started where? Perez is more capable and simply faster. As I stated Lance is NOT a rookie at all. Not anymore. He has some learning to do.

As Ricci stated he was never making a move on him. He simply forced both off the track - Ricci in an interview says this. The lack of respect for Stroll 'skill' was apparent and clear in his words!

Had the finish line been 100m later Stroll would have beaten Perez. Fact.

That damage happened out of the blue? An act of God? Or was it Perez going over the kerbs or hitting somebody?

He started behind Stroll. Why? Because Stroll beat him in qualifying.

At least Stroll didn’t damage his car unlike Perez, how can you make that a negative and talk about skill. You just refuse to give Lance a chance even though it’s his first year in a competitive car, and even though he’s not a rookie he’s only 21 years old, only one other driver, Lando is younger than Lance. Perez is 30 years older with many years more experience and is in the prime of his career. Let’s keep an open mind and see how this season works out before counting Lance out.

Stroll has damaged cars. Perez damaged his car. He passed Stroll from further back and was much quicker.

We see a major difference in skill with Lando vs Stroll. Lance will grow but his talent level vs his contemporaries in general is not as high. He drove a decent race today but his inability to quickly pass Ricci was glaring. Race craft is lacking. Forced Ricci off and Ricci could have easily closed the door on him but why risk a collision. His words against Stroll were not one's of respect. Ricci is a clean racer and frankly Stroll should learn from this day. He may yet surprise us but internal to the team he is not a major threat to Perez so far.

Look, Lance has some talent. He's average at best. Drivers in his age group of the likes of Max, Leclerc, Albon, Norris are getting the top tier seats and eventually have passed or will pass Lance in the pecking order.

    He's in F1 because of money...nothing new.

The drivers I just mentioned either do well or surpass their team-mates in a RACE which is what really counts.

Strolls team-mates have been Massa. Massa was an ex-retired "has-been" who came back to William's and had a hard time equaling or surpassing Massa in a race. The other team-mate is Perez and Stroll is having a hard time equaling or surpassing Perez.

Stroll drives an F1 car but he does'nt race in one.

Again, just compare Stroll to his team-mates and not the car.

Lance was 18 when he had Massa as a team mate, this is his first year in a decent car. It’s like saying George Russell is a poor driver because he can’t perform in the Williams. Anyways, time will tell, let’s discuss after the next few races, I think the confidence will come and so will the performance.

Stroll did alright today. Lots of wheel to wheel battles make it hard to argue that the kid can’t race. Then again haters gonna hate regardless

Stroll is a bit of an enigma to me. He clearly underperforms in races, but he has pace. He’s actually pretty good in the wet and that, to me, is the truest test of which drivers have raw speed and who don’t. But when it comes to races he’s out of his depth. It is well known that as part of his early years coaching, he just pounded out thousands of laps, over and over again, to get the right times. But there is no substitute for learning race craft through on track race experience. It also comes through when he’s under pressure and makes mistakes. This weekends Styrofoam GP demonstrated all these attributes perfectly. Good quali by his standards, then mediocre in the race because his race craft just wasn’t there. I can’t work him out. He’s been in the sport long enough to have cracked these issues by now, but that hasn’t happened and isn’t likely to. Perhaps part of his problem is that his seat is guaranteed, and so he just doesn’t have the pressure to deal with performance gaps?
