Alexander Albon has kept his fifth-place finish in Sunday's Hungarian Grand Prix after Red Bull was cleared of attempting to dry his grid slot before the race.

FIA technical delegate Jo Bauer notified the race stewards at the Hungaroring that Red Bull had used the leaf blowers - usually used to cool the car - to dry Albon's grid slot following some rain.

The teams had been reminded by race director Michael Masi before the race that they were not permitted to artificially dry the track by any means.

The stewards confirmed during the race they would investigate Red Bull over the incident, citing a possible breach of Article 22.3 of the sporting regulations.

Article 22.3 of the regulations reads that "other than by driving on the track, Competitors are not permitted to attempt to alter the grip of any part of the track surface".

But after meeting with a representative from Red Bull after the race, the stewards found the team had not actively tried to dry the grid slot as accused.

"The stewards reviewed video evidence and came to the conclusion that the competitor did not attempt to alter the grip of the track surface," the FIA bulletin reads.

 

The FIA has confirmed both Haas Formula 1 drivers Kevin Magnussen and Romain Grosjean will have ten-second time penalties applied to each of their respective race times for a breach of the FIA Sporting Regulations.

Shortly after the race, it was announced that Haas had been called to the stewards for an “alleged breach of Article 27.1 of the FIA Formula 1 Sporting Regulations, driver aids during formation lap.”

The aforementioned regulation states: "The driver must drive the car alone and unaided.''

 

Red Bull’s mechanics fixed Max Verstappen’s damaged Formula 1 car with just “25 seconds to go” on the Hungarian Grand Prix grid!!

 

If I understand the penalty correctly, they're being docked 10s each for being told to pit on the formation lap.

Wow.

Again more idiotic rules. Bottas started the race from outside the box and didn't get a penalty. I'll have to thrust their word about the video evidence in Albon's incident.

But then you get a penalty because someone told you to pit. How on earth is that a driving aid?

 

LH is exempt.
