Hi all, the strap in my luggage compartment that holds my tool kit broke. I'm not certain how to remove the fasteners. They don't appear to take a torx or hex tool. I'm thinking I may need to drilled them out and then replaced with screws. Has anyone else run across this? I did a search and found some information on this in the F430/360 forums but nothing in the 458/488 forum. There were some complaints there about how cheaply made the original straps were made.

Hi same happened to my tool kit belt on my 458, I was told it was not covered on my warranty but they would change it out of good will. The belt is riveted so will need to be drilled out.

Ok, drill it is; Did they reinstall with rivets or screws? Do you know if they have to remove anything related to the luggage compartment to install the new ones?

I had mine repaired. After drilled out, had to remove the liner to rivet the replacement in. Bought the straps from Scuderia Car Parts, but I heard of some owners having them made with real leather.

If the 458 is the same as my 430, you will need to remove the frunk panels so you can safely drill out the pop rivets and not accidentally drill into something important behind the panels.
The pop rivets are easily drilled out and replaced. There are several small backing plates that the back of the pop rivets go thru.
I used pop rivets to replace the old ones because I want it to look original.
Don’t use OEM straps, they are junk. Take the old straps to a shoe repair shop and they will make leather ones that will last forever. My shoe shop made 3 new leather straps, using the old buckles, for $110ish.

I think they used pop rivets, they didn't remove anything.
Eurospares do the strap and installation kit, hope this helps, all the best Paul.

I drilled out my rivets on the 458 as the same thing happened here. I saved the buckles then went to a Tackle Shop with the original buckles I removed from the processed cheap Ferrari Straps. If you review prior posts you should find reference to the 458 fix. The Ferrari pop rivets are a bit of a challenge as the metal is not your ordinary cheap Al., so get a good grade of bits. I found it was easier to drill a smaller diameter initial hole, to the final. I've heard some good things about Scudera Parts for ready made straps. Also I did not use rivets for the new straps. I used sleeves with a high grade flat faced screws. Reason being they looked good, plus if future prob. arises I could chge them out quickly.

Would you be willing to take some detailed photos and show your new replacements? Anyone else have photos they could add or links to new straps?

I suggest getting the replacement straps from Two Redbirds. They are real leather and will hold up much better than the OEM straps.
