Well I did see a rather discreet notice tucked under the exhaust that said “ tubi competition only” ..[emoji51] But seriously I’ve even never heard of the “EPA” Steve [emoji849]
Example of envy / tall poppy syndrome. I wonder if it's possible to do an F.O.I request and find out how many other complaints this member of the public has made to see if it's a serial complainer. I would bet your car is not the first ( and won't be the last ). And as a general observation, some people will also jump to the conclusion a noisy car is speeding.
The 360 CS had the loudest exhaust ever put on any Ferrari and it was available as an option on all 360’s. They are louder than Tubi’s. Marc would know the db rating of them I’m sure, as he has one. Don’t know if that would help in your defence Adrian
So true, well said Mike, It’s the first time I’ve received a letter of this sort, it was quite a surprise but I guess it goes with the turf, it’s a high profile vehicle.
Yes Kim, and I think they may be illegal too. https://www.epa.nsw.gov.au/your-environment/noise/vehicle-noise/avoiding-noisy-vehicle-exhaust
Bloody hell I need to count my lucky stars as I haven't received an EPA notice for the Capristo yet. I have noticed on other car forums alot of enthusiasts are getting picked up for EPA notices. Must be easier than ever to dob someone in.
I think my electric scooter complies. * for motorcycles built on or after 1 March 1984, and manufactured for use on a road, the level is 94 decibels * the noise level for other motorcycles is 100 decibels
No HD would pass ANY test here for noise but the cops are too gutless to pick them up ... let's nail the Ferrari driver as he won't burn my house down
You live no where near the bastards that ride these sh!theaps !! I can hear these UNMUFFLED POS from miles away at night time, AND SO CAN THE COPS !! But they never pick them up
True, but he's right. I don't know how those HOSs get away with the ridiculous amount of noise they make. I have to admit I was a little nervous during the compliance process for my OHOS about noise. The exhaust that it had on (and still has on) from the UK really is loud. I recall there was a brief discussion about putting a standard exhaust on for the compliance process then putting the aftermarket one back on but that never actually happened and it got through ok. Afterwards when I registered it here in SA I had to take it to the inspection centre where they went through it very thoroughly indeed, but again the noise was never mentioned. Luckily my neighbours seem to love the car and I try to creep around as much as possible in the suburbs, so no issues yet. Adrian, do you know if the car had the Tubi on when it was complied?
I've got a Capristo on mine, and I've been told it's EARSPLITTINGLY loud by Wes, as I blasted past him. Luckily it's valved and I can keep it quiet.
Fair enough. But I think we all know what he meant. You're lucky. Mine is very loud all the time. Once it's shot I'll definitely get a valved Capristo. Do you know what stage yours is (1-3), or are the valved ones all the same?
