Silverstone boss Stuart Pringle explained that the warnings were needed to avoid the two British races being jeopardised.

“The government requirement is that you can run this event if people are not present,” he told Motorsport.com.

“It therefore flies in the face of that completely if we allow people to be present – and that includes congregating at the front gate to see whether they can catch a glimpse of drivers coming in and out.

“[And] you won't because they're staying on-site in motorhomes, the vast majority of them.

“And there's a lot of concern in the community around Silverstone.

“As there is a lot of concern in the community around Anfield [where Liverpool fans congregated to celebrate the football team’s Premier League triumph], or a lot of concern in the community around the Ageas Bowl in Southampton [which recently hosted the first England vs West Indies test match].

“It’s that these sporting events should not be a magnet to bring people to their locality and increase the risk of transmission of this virus.

“The plan we've put together is to comply with the government requirements. And we are doing it and we're doing a thorough job.

“We're just getting the messaging out there – get it out early, get it clear and get it backed up with a bit of authority – so that everybody knows you're serious.”

In a statement released earlier this week, Northamptonshire Police superintendent, Dennis Murray, said: “I want to reinforce our previous messages.

“There will be an exclusion zone around the circuit and F1 fans must not travel to it, but should instead join the millions watching the races on TV.

“My officers will be out and about to target anybody intent on committing crime and there will be teams of officers tightly controlling the area.

“It will not be possible to watch the race from the perimeter fences and anybody attempting to do so will be removed.

“Neither will it be possible to park near the circuit. All laybys will be ‘clear ways’ and any cars left unattended will be towed away.

“I’d also like to take this opportunity to remind people that use of drones will be prohibited throughout both the race weekends - the Civil Aviation Authority has imposed a flight restriction for the entirety of the grand prix season.”

It will be very difficult to enforce this exclusion zone, and that will require massive manpower.
Already some "elements" try to organise "mob rallies" around Silverstone through social media to confront the police.

Obviously that won't provide anything good, from the intelligence already gathered by the police.
The locals living in the village around Silverstone already worry about potential unrest, followed by some vandalism and unsocial behaviour.
You know how mass gatherings can quickly end up in flash points these days.

Christian Horner says the 2020 Red Bull’s biggest issue is in the aerodynamics department, and that the team are yet to fully understand it.

The team looked to have comfortably the second quickest car in the first two races at the Red Bull Ring, with Max Verstappen qualifying in P2 at the first and finishing in P3 at the second, behind both Mercedes drivers.

They headed to Hungary optimistic that they could challenge the German team. However, this hope quickly faded when a poor qualifying, in which the drivers could only manage P7 and P12, revealed that the car had fundamental problems.

Speaking to Crash.net, the team principal stated that such problems are thought to be related to the car’s aerodynamics.

“I think we have got something misbehaving aerodynamically and it is a matter of understanding that and addressing that,” he said.

“In certain conditions, the car is behaving as expected and we actually have some very good data from this weekend, so the team will work hard to try and understand it and resolve it as quickly as we can.”

i think its the other way round .Anyone go to UK from Spain must 14 day self quarantine, or maybe it is both?

So teams could not return to uk after spain ,without 14 day self isolation.

Does it still apply to F1 given they are already self-isolating at the tracks?

I’ll be interested to see how the motor pushes the car around Silverstone. I don’t get the sense that it is as powerful as everyone hoped.

Mercedes are the aero experts currently. Certainly that is apparent.

Agreed. Mercedes were pushed by Ferrari last year when Ferrari were so “powerful”. Honda have not kept up in development Mercedes has again more power. Coupled with aero that gives the car cornering and straight line speed. Newey who? LoL :)

    https://www.autosport.com/f1/news/150845/wolff-mercedes-not-to-blame-for-formula-1-dominance

Mercedes Formula 1 team boss Toto Wolff says it's not the team's fault that it is dominant, stating that the 2020 season will not be "a walk in the park".

The Brackley squad has taken a hat-trick of poles and wins from the opening three races of the season - with Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas respectively securing two and one win apiece - and already holds a 66-point gap to nearest challenger Red Bull in the constructors' standings.

While acknowledging that it may run alternative strategies at some events this year in order to promote a race between its drivers Wolff says there's little the team can do to improve the show if rivals are lagging behind.

"If we would take the 2020 season for granted, as a walk in the park, and it's basically just about picking up the trophy in Paris in December, we wouldn't have won these [past] championships," said the Austrian.

"There is not one fibre in us that thinks that this championship is done. It's something that can really catch you out.

"On the other side, dominance from a single team, whether it is us, whether it is Red Bull in the 2010 years, or whether it was Ferrari in the early 2000s is something that is always a bit odd for the championship.

"But it is not up to the team that has made steps to be seen as responsible for the predictability of the championship."

Wolff says he wants the opposition to close the gap, and has welcomed the improved performances from Racing Point and McLaren.

"We are very keen in racing against our fantastic competitors, we like to be out there fighting against Ferrari and Red Bull, we like the challenger brands like Racing Point to be part of the game, and on the other side McLaren and Renault need to find a way back to the front," he said.

"I would wish for nothing more than a strong competition with an unknown outcome every Friday we start FP1, but it's very difficult in our position to really change the pecking order at that stage.

"We have one key objective, and it is about finishing every weekend to the best of our abilities, hopefully score many points, and challenge for a championship. There is nothing else we can do."

Wolff stressed that rivals can easily close the gap in the points if Mercedes slips up.

"You can see that Red Bull was struggling all through the weekend [in Hungary], and then they had a pretty decent race car, a car that didn't look like it could start and the mechanics did a really awesome job in the car there," he said.

"The gaps are nothing. If you look at the drivers' points standings, it's 30 points after three races that we have with Lewis to Max [Verstappen], so you have one DNF, and the gap is gone. You just need to keep going."

This will be quite an advantage to Tracing Point. Their works is just across the road from the Silverstone track--though the design staff is in Brackleyo_O
