PPF, ceramic or both?

IMO do the whole car and also ceramic. Dare say you have bought second hand with no film ild paint correct first.

Saw a Pista last week no film the whole car had fine scratches everywhere could NOT believe it especially given the price over here > 900 K ild say a 10 k investment is negligible.

 

I always say do both, but if you have to choose only one, then PPF. Ceramic is more for cleaning than it is protection.

Also ceramic brands seems plagued with snake oil salesmen that will tell you a coating will protect against rock chips. Don't believe any of that. Ceramic enhances gloss, makes the car easier to clean, and offers some protection against chemical damage (i.e. bug acid)

 

PPF for protection, ceramic to keep the car cleaner and easier to clean.
You can do the ceramic coating yourself over couple hours for 50$ with Avalon King or cquartz.
For PPF, you can do the front only with other high impact areas for about 2500$ or the whole car for about 6k. I can tell you if you do the front only, with time you will see swirl marks on the rest of the car especially after they work on the car in the back.
It depends on you, if scratches bothers you a lot then you should do the whole car, otherwise the front is enough.

 

for a car that stays outside you might wanna do both, but for a 1k mile a year garage queen just do ppf and be done.

 

1. Full paint correction. Steam clean engine bay.
2. PPF whole car
3. Ceramic coat over PPF, plus calipers, wheels, and exposed carbon fiber external and in engine bay.

If you want window tint, XPel XR+ is excellent.

Yep . Its a shame seeing Ferrari's with scratch marks. All paint jobs have scratch marks unless they are detailed and then all cover wrapped.

Once a guy said BS to me and challenged me to spot any scratch's and needless to say he organised film to be installed the very same day.

 

I have done both and don’t regret it at all. Easy to clean and no chips.

The OP is asking about best bang for the buck. Some posts here are most bang for the most buck.

 

OP asked also if he should just suck it up and go whole hog. That is what I did. The one time i thought I would just wax, I ended up with a bunch of chips which I hated.

So for protection whole PPF. Ease of cleaning, Ceramic. Makes me happy.

PPF is the no brainer. My car has PPF in the high impact areas. Next years project will be a total PPF. I can tell on the non protected areas that ok wash hygiene was practiced, but it wasn’t phenomenal. Scratches were inevitable and present, but they were very superficial. I’ve since polished them out and put ceramic on until next year. The car is looking mint now and I’ll be taking extra care until it has PPF stem to stern.

 

Bang for the buck the answer is ppf the high impact areas.
