Sorry I try to visit this thread less and less because it is nothing but bashing. Very few open minds or giving credit to where it is due just bashing. Kind of sad to read. I don't even like this guy.

It was disappointing to see the overall decline of pace from him. Highs coming in FP, lower in Qualifying, and the race was rough to watch him fall back. But on a good note he beat his team mate!

It is also quite painful listening to his post race comments.

Yes not all things are easy in the cockpit. I was not making fun of him in my comments. Plenty of drivers have had function or button issues on the radio in races.

Don't get put off by the haters. Yes, they are plentiful in the F1 section and particularly in this thread. Which makes it double the fun when Lance controls his team mate by .7 seconds in qualifying (which apparently went completely unnoticed by bespoken haters).

In fact some people are so busy bashing Lance that they completely overlook his WDC standings in comparison to not just more than half the field but also in comparison to a certain Ferrari driver, four times WDC nonetheless.

Rumors have it that somewhere in my collection there is a certain push button from a certain 7 times WDC...might be just rumors though.

He drives a Clone Mercedes and with proper qualy he will not need to pass very often or in real wheel to wheel fashion with many so much slower/not equal. He is so often unable to make passes on those slower cars as quickly as he should?? Stuck for laps behind others.

Failing that - he failed this weekend. His own team were polite about it. Stroll out qualify his team mate is an event not the norm. Currently still 2 points behind Perez.

We are not talking Senna here. I keep waiting for this new and improved Lance 4.0 but we see very little. We see him driving a fast car. Not much to say racing the fast car.

As Lewis said not so long ago: Today's Hamilton would kick butt of the early LH who won his first title.

And you see that how he is managing absolutely everything. He looks and acts in the cockpit very much like MS on his final title chases. Everything under control, looks like a walk in the park, which of course it isn't.

I was kind of making fun, though, LOL. I think it’s been mentioned here already but the constant sawing at the wheel, making corrections is just weird. It seems keeping the car straight requires all his attention so maybe why having issues locating various buttons.

False. It was less than 0.1 sec. Q1 times:

    Lance Stroll: 1:26.243
    Nico Hülkenberg: 1:26.327

Why are you comparing Q1 times? Utterly meaningless.

Compare the times with which they finally qualified and the difference is more than .7 seconds.

You are wrong. Cars can be changed between Q1 and Q2: tires, fuel, set up, etc. Also, the track gets faster with more rubber.

Nico had a not so good lap attempting to gain entry to Q3. then the same for Lance in Q3. Personally, Nico showed well for rushing around to get fit and set up to drive. The real loss is not seeing Lance vs Nico in the race. Overall bad weekend for the team.

The valid comparison is Q2. Stroll 126.501; Hulk 126.566. Stroll out qualified Hulkenburg by less than 6 hundredths of a second--is that what you mean by "controls his teammate"? Perhaps Lance should spend a bit more time learning the controls in his cockpit.

    Agreed on that.

I said earlier when people made a big deal out of the fact that the Hulk hasn't been driving for months (well hello, up until recently barely anybody did) that this won't be his problem, but his neck muscles will be. Sure enough he soon mentioned after practice that the G forces in the turns are hard on him. No non active F1 driver keeps their neck muscles in the shape required for the sport. He will have a fatiguing time once he finally gets to race (hopefully on Sunday).

We were robbed of the ultimate comparison between the two drivers. As it stands only the qualifying times have meaning.

...but those drivers at minimum drove their cars in testing. They know the way their engine works via the steering wheel (which he couldn't get set up the way he likes it in any case due to limited time). those drivers also drove their cars 3 (now 4) times in all sessions.

Take a look at Vettel (your favourite target last few years), car broken in FP 1, 2 and 3...no time to set it up, car all over the place.
