Yes, and here Dems and Repubs can always agree on a few things too:

    1. No term limits.
    2. Pay raises for themselves.
    3. Having the government spend more money despite not actually having it.

I'm sure there are more areas of agreement, but you get the idea.

It is a 2 party system. It is not Dems and Repubs, it is US and THEM.

Oh come on - yes politics is nasty; did the Republicans do anything to assist the Obama administration? Trumps contribution was to fund the ridiculous Birther movemenet to spread the lie Obama wasn’t American.
Trump has had control of the senate for his whole Presidency and the House until HE lost it at the midterms.
If he loses this time, it will totally down to him.

I said they're both the same.

Looks like Obama and Biden did some really shifty things that only came out recently. That'll help trump enormously. Trump's just " Biden" his time

    I crack me up

No, I run businesses and have employees in the US, so my experience is real, not second hand from a journalist with an agenda.

What I see seems pretty real, people rioting, lining the streets with guns. A president that makes a fool of himself every time he fronts a podium, (apart from his hair, it’s perfect). The US is just a hyper partisan **** hole. I mean Biden isn’t even expected to see out 2 terms, WTF is going on over there??
I sincerely hope that your businesses and employees will be fine through this pandemic. I fear that come election time no matter who wins, that country will erupt.

Just watch Sky news and read the Australian if you want the truth :rolleyes::rolleyes:

I was watching Sky today and they had some Labor woman on banging on and on and on about the bungling in the aged care !!

FFS the sooner this country's politicians stop pointing fingers (at DA for VIC, GB for NSW and SM for aged care) and start pulling in the same direction the better off we will all be

I was disappointed in Albanese today, armed with a little info from the royal commission he attacked the govt after all these months agreeing with the govts actions where as Morrison has said little bad things about Andrews .... although he has let the backbench whack jobs loose.

So it takes a world wide pandemic to have a good govt for 6 months before it degenerates into the usual cesspool , well done you lot, pathetic

Yep they are both as bad as each other. Politics needs a shake up. Firstly some form of accountability, that's what the public really want. Makes me sick watching them just shirk any responsibility. And they get paid too much, especially expenses and super, they all just have their heads in the trough!!

I don’t think they get paid enough and that’s part of the problem. For the most part we end up with those that couldn’t make it in the private sector

I think the opposite, most are lawyers and accountants aren't they. I reckon they are just too lazy and the ongoing benefits are huge. Then once they've accumulated their ministerial pension go back to the private sector
I'd like to see their pay halved and get some people in their with real life experience that actually know what its like to battle. Not just career politicians with backgrounds in law and finance!!

I’d rather have people with a background in law, finance, or business running the show than a bunch of union hacks, career students, and party staffers.

I agree. The hassles of politics are simply not worth it from a financial perspective. That said, most people get in to politics for other reasons than money, some altruistic - "want to change the world" others simply because they want power and recognition ( which to them, is more important than $$).

Law degree ( or journalism) , job in union representing workers, staffer for a member of parliament, then preselection in a safe seat is the typical career path of an ALP politician.

    Agree.
I think we should pay double their current amount and halve the number of representatives.
    However, I can't see it happening :(

Well you've gone too far the other way mate, I never mentioned wanting that. I believe in the middle ground (something for everyone). It would be good if politics could be sensible, I'm preaching here for the impossible, but It would be great if portfolios could be filled with people with experience in their field. Doctors or nurses in health, farmers in agriculture, lawyers naturally for the Attorney General, accountants in finance and dare I say it "Scientists" in environment etc etc. People with lived experience. It ****s me how portfolios are changed so regularly, often due to incompetence, how are people supposed to be across everything when they get moved around so often!
I do realise this is probably logistically impossible but for me in a perfect world!!
I just don't think you attract better people by dangling a bigger carrot.
I realise everyone has a different opinion and I expect that, if we all thought the same we'd all be driving red 355's with shields :D

More to the point, are any of the articles ‘ claims false?
    See https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/#countries
US is 10th on deaths per million BUT many of the top ones are very small, densely populated places (Belgium, Andorra, San Marino etc).
Many US people claim the death rates are inflated (ie anyone who’s died has been attributed to covid) so until the actual annual deaths are released we can’t really confirm .
