Stroll was slow in a slow car. Now he's fast(er) in a fast car. Nothing really to complain about regarding Sir Lancelot.

Lance now in 5th place with only the two unbeatable Mercedes, Vestappen and LeClaire in front of him, and quickly gaining on LeClaire.

Naysayers ready to eat some crow ? Come on, time to admit Stroll is in a great car and doing a proper job. Credit where credit is due.

Barring an accident, injury, Covid for the top 3 they are safe. But it will be interesting to see whether Lance can beat Charles for 4th.

I have a lot of friends who are serious F1 fans. One and only one of them is a fan of Stroller...and even then it's rather tongue-in-cheek cheering for his fellow Canadian (my buddy is really hoping Latifi can improve and get in a faster car).

Stroller is in a fast car and doesn't seem to have as many shunts anymore.

Just don’t understand why some of you can’t stop with. The negative comments after several very good drives. Lance has improved! What a start he passed Perez and Vettel! Also passed Vettel, ran away from Sainz who started along side of him and finished 4th. I am not a troll just stating the facts to the trolls who are not being logical in view of this seasons results for Lance. Let’s be fair.

As been said many times now in this thread...Stroll is simply driving the car not doing anything special. I'm not applauding that. I don't go praising Giovinazzi, Kvyat, Perez, Ocon and others, either. Because they're not doing anything noteworthy.

Wasn’t passing Bottas and Perez today at the start and going from 5th to 3rd noteworthy?

Just like the irrational hatred for Hamilton, I don't get the hate for Lance. I don't think anyone here has claimed he's future WDC material no matter what the car. Those pro Stroll people on here are just pointing out that he's not a bad driver by any stretch and has just as much right to be on the grid as anyone else. He certainly has good speed, but his race craft is lacking. Would you rather have a fast driver who needs to improve his race craft, or a driver with great race craft who is just slow? One can be taught, the other needs basic natural talent. His opening laps were certainly very good, no matter the car, and those first few corners were really impressive. Can't we just cut the guy some slack and watch how he continues to develop?

I rather watch how he continues to undevelop...the only thing developing is the car he's driving, not his racecraft...just go and ask Ricciardo about it :)

Yep, the guy confesses not watching a GP, then comes on this forum to accuse anyone who has an opinion he doesn't agree with of trolling.

" ...has just as much right to be on the grid as anyone else....."

So kicking out a better driver than Stroll so Stroll can take his seat "gives him just as much right??" (BTW, I get it, his dad is the owner)

    Also

"and watch how he continues to develop."

In this particular case, your right....it wasn't fair to the team as a whole and they lost millions in WCC points

    thank-you for pointing that out.

    Via Autosport here - https://www.autosport.com/f1/news/151474/10-things-we-learned-from-the-spanish-grand-prix

Last week Autosport called him 'anonymous'. Now he is a news story in improvement. I agree he did well. Without a 5 second penalty he still sits behind his team mate in the finishing order. His starts are always for the most part positive. Im posting this to avoid being called a troll or something else. He needs more of this type weekend to say he is drastically improved. Ricci's comments about his wheel to wheel skills still matter. A start with a long run is stressful but so is passing a known winning racer and not running both off he circuit. Right now if Vettel went to Clone point who would you favor???

    5. Stroll is one of F1 2020's unsung heroes
As Bottas found himself being squeezed out by a pink Racing Point car into Turn 1 on Sunday, it would have come as a surprise to some that it was Lance Stroll and not Sergio Perez who was being so aggressive. But it should not.

Not only has Stroll proven himself to be a superb starter through his F1 career to date - even if from lowly grid positions - but he has been one of the unsung heroes of the 2020 season to date.

The pace of Racing Point's controversial RP20 car has certainly helped Stroll's elevation to fifth place in the drivers' championship, but he was a close match for returning team-mate Perez right the way through the Spanish Grand Prix weekend.

Stroll qualified fifth, just one-tenth of a second off Perez, and ran third in the early stages after his lightning getaway. The decision to two-stop him cost him a place on the road to the one-stopping Perez, but that was recovered in the final classification after the stewards handed Perez a five-second time penalty for failing to obey blue flags.

It was another fuss-free, mature display for Stroll, who in his fourth season on the F1 grid is removing doubts that may linger over his worthiness of a place in the field. He deserves a lot of credit for that.

It was noted that Stroll was having a close chat with Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel after the race, only adding to the suggestions they could become team-mates for 2021 when Racing Point becomes Aston Martin. On Stroll's current form, it's hard to argue that he would be completely out of place going toe-to-toe with a four-time world champion.

The last phrase is the real issue "toe to toe", Stroll manages to keep out of trouble and sometimes manages to keep a decent pace trhough the race (he's still very slow in qualifying) but his lack of skill is very obvious in close combat, unless it's a straight and he has a big speed advantage he is useless. I must confess i expected his diference to checo the be bigger in qualy, even if the Mexican was never a one lap man, Ocon for example was faster with very litle experience.
