Lewis Hamilton discussion thread

Another think that makes elton dislikeable imo are his fans. Just the other day i was reading a pair of morons talking down Mika hakkinen because he said Bottas would be able to chaleng their beloved elton. And by talking down i mean:
Who the hell is this guy? what did he achieve? he's jealous of elton, just shut up! And this goes on and on, and just goes to show that the vast majority of his suporters are nothing more then a bunch of ignorants when it comes to the sport and it's history.
To them F.1 started in 2007 or when they discovered elton, they don't know and don't want to know anything else.
By the way, although Mika was Ferrari rival he was one of the fastest drivers i ever saw, and imo, given the same car, he would be confortably quicker then elton most of the time.

 

Many Hamilton's fans belongs to the generation of social networks.
Everything is said.

 

And yet here you are, repeatedly being the same kind of ignorant fan on the opposite side of the spectrum.

 

I find it interesting that you really rate Mika Hakkinen being a rival of Ferrari, and yet hate Lewis Hamilton with a passion.

They both drove for the enemy, one still does and is still currently breaking records in the process, so it makes me wonder what it is about him you depise so much.

I am also a big fan of Ferrari so much so, I bought one.

I'am also a big fan of Mikka Hakkinen, he seemed a really nice guy and a great racer.

I'am also a big fan of Lewis Hamilton, he has a natural inherent abilty to drive, he is absolutely a fantastic racer, the one to beat.

I watched F1 well before Lewis was on the scene, however there is no way I'd state Mika would beat Lewis, I figure your total dislike of Lewis is blurring your judgement.

As a fan of Ferrari, I feel embarrassed to be associated by your posts, so I must be one of the ignorant ones.

As regard to this thread, Hamilton is an idiot, ......well as the saying goes, it takes one to know one.

 

Mika Hakkinen is modest and self-effacing--a quiet dignity. Lewis is not.

 

True, and the rest are most anti-ferrari, so they cling on to whoever is winning.

To me, Mika is the last of the true gentleman drivers: super-quick, impish sense of humor, always taking victory and defeat with the same distance...he has the word "class" written all over him.

The problem with many fans here is that they hold a different standard for Lewis than many other greats. And they choose to ignore things that he have accomplished on track.
Won a title without the best car? Done that 2008.
Won a race without the best car? Done that 2009-2013
Won a spectaculer wet race? Done that 2008 Silverstone etc.(lapped up to 4th place)
Won a race when he was'nt supposed too? Done that
And so on
Second thing is people accuse Hamilton fans of not knowing F1 or being too young. Or not knowing what past greats have done.
But they can't explain why F1 drivers (including team mates of Senna and Schumacher) disagree with them and say that Hamilton is one of the goats.
Here is a list of drivers who say Hamilton is a goat (these people are not young and have been involved in F1 before Hamilton came):
Brawn, Berger, Barrichello, Alonso, Murray Walker, Button, Eddie Irvine, Rosberg, Lauda to name a few
There have been many drivers who say Senna, Fangio, Schumacher, Hamilton are goats. Many Hamilton fans accept that. Because drivers words have more weight.
The difference between Hamilton fans and none Hamilton fans is that we accept what drivers say, whether its about Senna, Schumi, Hamilton who ever.
Third thing is, none Hamilton fans expect people to believe their view over an actual driver, particularly older drivers. Not gonna happen.
I say Fangio, Senna, Shumi, Hamilton, and others are among the top F1 drivers in history and are all great.

 

...and the anecdote of the conversation he had with Ayrton, just after Mika was the fastest of the two in the qualis is so typically Mika...

The reason for these discussions about Hammy does not concern his unquestioned skills as a pilot but what is being built around it in filigree.
The aim is to introduce nuance where it should be.

Of course, no one ever questioned his talent, for starters, Ron Dennis (whom i dislike but knew a thing or too about fast drivers) would never have given him a seat if he wasn't convinced about his potential.
But of course, when you root for someone, there is a whole package. I wanted Michael to beat Mika, but only because Michael was driving a Ferrari, because i had nothing that made me dislike Mika. Super fast, nice guy, never talked bad against his team or acused others, correct on track, super brave, a gentleman when he lost or won, not whining or finding excuses, just like Michael (although Michael was naughty on track and would use unsporty methods to win) but Michael had something else on Mika, wet driving was very diferent, as it was technical side. Similar speed but Michael just the more complete driver. Elton is not as fast and certainly very limited on the technical side, better then Mika on the wet, but not comparable to Michael.
But my real issue with him is the fact that he's a compulsive liar and hiprocrite, he feads **** to his fans and they eat it like fillet mignon! The whole story about being a poor boy who had to fight against all those racists to get to the top is such a bs. Take Kimi for example. He didn't even had a bathroom in his house! His parents spent everything to help him, and he wasn't backed from an early age for mercedes, and mclaren! Did you ever saw Kimi complain? No, not once. Guys who come from nothing and had success? Tons of them. Take Nigel, Gilles, Prost, etc, etc. Elton wasn't rich, but he had more then many. Why create this story? to make him look better than he is? To me he is just a guy with a big inferiority complex, and that despite all of his success never got over it.
He's good all right, but not that special, he isn't better than Massa, and hardly better than Nico, and none of them are top, of the top.
Extraordinary races by hamilton? Zero, he did a great british g.p in 2008 but he was one of the few who had a perfect setting on the car for the weather, and that was by far the best race he ever drove. I saw a lot more from massa, and i never saw him drive races like Max, or even Charles, just to mention current drivers. If i compare him to legends like Michael, Alesi Mika, he's streets behind them in terms of talent!
Results mean **** to me, if they did, then Bottas would be the second best driver on the grid!
And Stroll would be better then Ricci, Ocon, Sainz, Norris, etc, etc!

That's why we are here, to discuss, if we all agreed there would be no fun in it!
I must say that Alesi is imo much more talented then Massa or elton, i believe he, Mika and Michael were above all others in their time. IN wet races, Jean and Michael were clearly faster then Mika (can't tell between jean and Michael), on dry, they were all evenly matched, and on circuits like Monaco, again i believe Jean and Michael were a bit better then Mika. Michael worked much harder then the other 2 and that made all the diference. Also Michael and Mika got into a title winning car and jean didn't, that was the biggest diference between them. As for Massa vs Elton, in 2008 they had similar cars, perhaps the Mac was a bit better, maybe depending on circuits, but Massa won more races, lead more laps and was just a bit better overall. In 2009 agian i think felipe was the better driver, but after his accident it was over.

ANOTHER Hamilton thread. And some of you have the audacity to say its his “fans” that are obsessed with him here? Leo DiCaprio flew to a conference on a private airplane where he advocated for stronger efforts towards climate change. This is nothing new with celebrities. Plenty endorse sports drinks while consuming water from the can/bottle during the commercial.

Get over it. Some of you have serious issues.

Yes it was...one of those moments that stayed for f.1 history...like Piquet pass on Senna at the Hungaroring, or Jacques on Micahel on the "Parabólica" at Estoril, or Mansell or Berger on the "Peraltada", at the Hermanos Rodriguez circuit!
It's these moments that to me define greatness, not some statistic, numbers are for the ones that can't figure out for themselves what they see and need something to validate their point.

Funny thing, for some reason i wasn't able to watch it, something to do with the chanell being off i guess, so i stayed in my dads car listening to the radio were they were commentating the race...soooo exciting...afterwards i managed to watch it...what a great victory for Ferrari!
That 1990 season was amazing, too bad Senna cheated in the end and got away with it, we were robbed of an amazing finale. I put that season up there with 2007, both epic, although in the end, 2007 should have been decided betewwn Kimi and Felipe, since the mac boys were driving a car made with stolen information.

 

Adeleide 86 didn't have any Ferraris in the mix
Suzuka 2005 was the one for me...untill Alesi's Ferrari gave up!
Spain 1992 was another one
Monaco 85, to me Alboreto's finest race!
