Yes, your advice was good! I really love the car. There is something about 911s that I can't resist and I think this is the ultimate expression of it, at least in terms of power and aggression. I already had an idea that I might prefer it on road since I was finding the fact you really need to hit the loud part of the rev range to get good performance from the GT3 RS, which in the end is both anti-social and tiring. The GT2 RS solves that big time. The noises it makes are unlike any other car I have ever owned too - a really loud, deep, guttural sound with mini explosions instead of 'pops' and 'bangs' as in other cars. It is a really serious piece of kit.

Having had one trackday and no road trips in it yet, my experience with it is not yet enough to really work out whether to stay with the stock spec (which in almost all cars is my strong preference, though I did quite a big change on the Challenge Stradale when I had it, far too twitchy as standard) or to have a chat with Manthey. I know those who track regularly (such as Robert Mitchell at the Nurburgring) say that if you use it solely on track you need to firm up the rear because the standard car has a road/track compromise that can leave it feeling a little loose on track. Most of my mileage will still be on road, but all the mileage where I'm pushing it as hard as possible will be on track. Still, 6:47 on the nurburgring in stock form - I won't be threatening that, so a bit unsure what's best at the moment.

After owning a dozen Porsches over 2 decades, including 3 Turbos -993 , 997 and Turbo S cab, 997 GT3, the desire to own another is nil. They are undeniably very capable and reliable but the monotony of the aesthetic and the absence of engendering the feeling of being special is no longer appealing for me. From all reports, the GT2/RS is a extraordinary performer but it looks like a typical 911 with a splattering of stripes, a functional but garish wing and various add on adornments.I am certainly not disparaging anyone who feels otherwise especially with regard to the GT series which are compelling and highly capable.

I don't really see the relevance of bringing the GT2RS up in a thread focused on the F8. The Pista I can understand.

Since the F8 is the topic, a specific individual will relentlessly continue his disparaging attacks with a comparsion to the Pista to emphazize its inferiority and ultimately leads to his exaltation of his GT2/RS which is the alter at which he prays.

I do hope to attend a school someday. I was able to but had a sinus thing going on. Became motion sickness during ride alongs and never recovered good enough to enjoy the whole session! My hope is to have more flexibility in my work schedule in the next couple of years to do some mild track days. I agree that it is very helpful.

And yes, I need another 911. I do miss the one we had. Maybe in another year or so! 6-8-12. Do I need to round that out with a 2-4-10 set? Hahaha!

My actual garage is missing the 6 and the 10, and it's far from my "ideal" one - but it also includes a 3 (!):

    3 - Citroen C4 Cactus
    4- Caterham 275, Citroen DSuper
    8 - Ferrari 488 GTB

2 is probably a 2018 Morgan three wheeler (to put in the garage and look at because it ain’t easy to drive - very noisy and hard - but is it ever pretty!)
4 is a Subaru STI, I have a UK Cosworth so that one will do
    6 is the GT2RS
8 is probably the 918 but could also be Pista Spider or SF90 if it’s good
10 must be the LFA because I’m not really into Lambo, and the sound....
12 loving our 812 GTS at the moment - what a car, but couldn’t overlook LaF Aperta

Errm, ya, okay. So it's ok to explore chat about a dream list of 12 cars on an F8 thread but any mention of that big bad GT2 and kaboom!? Cant believe the insecurity coming from the same few here. Unbelievable. I thought you guys were bigger than that. Oh well maybe not eh. I'm now seeing toys being thrown out of the pram along with thinly veiled spite posts and all over a few differing opinions. Wow. Crazy.
It would be fair to think that after 202 pages on the subject it surely must be considered possible that at one point the topic is bound to deviate or take a turn along the way which involves mention of other cars which arouse the sensors of the motoring enthusiast? Seen that happen on so many threads I couldn't count. Anyway have fun guys! I'm off to the track in that nasty 911 for another session of sensory overload. Cheers lads.

Sim racing is more fun than track.. you can risk it all and not get killed or loose your shirt repairing damage. Track days are ok, but way too much hassle.

which one do you have? My nephew sent me all the specs and website. He races on iracinf. He is a semi-professional kart racer. It’s not all that expensive- about 5-6 grand for the basic version which is what I want. You can go nuts with these thing and spend 100k+. I Just want something basic and fun

My rig is from Sim Lab, Sparco racing seat,, all Fanatec hardware, 3 Asus 31.5 monitors. Corsair computer , iRacing...10 k should do it. This is a serious enough rig.. my friend who turned me on to this spec races Lando Norris and some other real racers online. One of my cars is 488GTE.
