If I read the article correctly, Parlato instigated the allocation scheme after he had resigned from FNA. How could he have controlled allocation if he no longer worked there? Am I missing or misunderstanding something?

I wonder if this is how Preston Henn was left off the approved list for an Aperta.

The thing is, lots of people do lots of scummy things. They never get you for doing the scummy things. They always get you for failing to pay taxes on the money you got for doing the scummy things. Just remember Al Capone, a life lesson.

Doesn't give much credence to Ferrari's and the dealers vetting system for client allocation. Matter of fact makes a mockery of it

My first thought, too, but I didn't bother to research the timeframe for possible fit. Also, didn't Preston tender a check directly to Maranello?

all the more reason Ferrari shouldn't game the allocations, just let dealers sell at market prices.

Agreed. I think that there is no good reason for that collector to get first dibs when there are other folks that want to buy that same car fair and square. It gives the brand a bad reputation in my eyes as only looking out for the super rich, when they really should be trying to promote their image in the hope of reaching a wider market. Ferrari is (was) all about exclusivity in that they were rare to see one in person, and they priced the cars appropriately to keep it that way. I'm not saying that they should build a car for every man, woman and child, just that they should pay more attention to their image and where they are as a brand.

    Clocking odometers, bribery, what's next?

To borrow a word, this surely makes a mockery of the countless threads on how one can get on the "list" for a Pista or some other highly desirable vehicle.

What makes me wonder is how long has this really been going on?

I have a sneaky feeling they know exactly what they’re doing, where their brand is and pay right amount of attention to their image or they wouldn’t be where they are, on top with buyers lined up willing to pay extra and wait years(?) to get their products.

I have a relative who has 2 Ford GT's and the application process is 13 pages long with references etc. I guess it is a game whatever exotic you buy. The application is online for anyone interested. The application is pretty restrictive in buying owning and selling the car. Not for me no matter how much money you have.

I get that some people buy a lot of cars and maybe they deserve to get at the head of the list but what I really do not understand is why someone would buy a 300k car that they don't want just so they can get higher on a list that they have no control over ... I think this whole game is going to collapse very soon . i would have loved to have been allocated a PISTA but I did not but I was able to buy a 2020 PISTA exactly like I want it with only 200 miles on it
for LESS than list and I am thrilled to death that I have it,.... I do plan to buy a TDF cause I will never be allocated a
812VS despite the fact that I have owned maybe 11 or 12 Ferraris over the last 11 years and keep 4 or so in my garage...
most of the time for long term collection .. great cars but terrible system
