Friends own one. They like it. But it is massive. They have 2 kids and a dog.

Wouldnt something 1 or 2 level smaller be better for a college kid? BMW X1 or Merc GLA?

Might be. I didn't realize they were that big.

Yes, they are huge. Think Mazda CX9 or Nissan Pathfinder.

The Atlas is, I believe, a 3 row very large vehicle. For a single college student I believe VW has a smaller crossover with only 2 rows. However, I would probably steer a college student to a Toyota over a VW if on a budget or a Merc if not on as much of a budget but thats a preference.

Neighbor has a macan S and is really happy with it. She had a RRover before that but felt it was too large for her.

It looks like the Macans are going to be out of my range, $30K or less. I’ve got to get a 5 year old cayenne to get into that range and I’m not sure that’s wise. Looks like I can get a Audi Q5 in thar range with some warranty left...

I quite like the look of the Atlas cross sport. It’s smaller, and has a better design. I may look into one myself

that’s actually the one I was referring to. I also have a curiosity about the Alfa Stelvio. The resale values are plummeting which doesn’t speak well, but it also means I can score a low miles one for high $20s with lots of warranty.

My wife test drove it and decided she liked the Lincoln Nautilus better. I tried to steer her toward the smaller one (Corsair) but she just had an accident and felt safer in the larger vehicle. We also looked at the Audi Q5 and Mazdas (CX5 and CX9).
