This should fill some of your day Gary I spent 2 days at the Smithsonian and aeronautical museum years ago with my boy The X-15 was always my favourite -
Today was a good aircraft day. Dropped the dog off to be clipped , hear the familiar drone of a two radial motors and lookup .......The (ANA)Ansett DC3 flying over . #KANANA. A unique aircraft being a one owner since new , till recent years when purchased by The Little Group. As i said a good aircraft day..
It was, the factory is in the flighpath to Essendon Fields, the old girl flew over about 700' at 2:30pm, just happened to be outside. There's something about a polished fuselage and radial engines.
She turned back just after Doncaster around 1.00pm ,must have headed out then come back into Essendon ..
About 17 years ago a friend who was head of Ansett engineering offered her to various people for around 150k on behalf of the liquidators . The idea had merit except for the fuel bill ,I cannot remember what hours the air-frame had left ? Would have been fun to get a fuel sponsor and do air-shows.. Gunna day .
Pity I wasn't quick enuff with the camera,a Lockheed 12A or Beech 18 just flew over my house. There was a 12 in Mareeba once upon a time.
Out in the garden ,booming sound miles away .........Cathay Pacific 747 cargo coming in ,flies over and a hard left and throttles up . My aircraft dream to fly in a 747 cargo fully loaded ..
