It looks very nice :D Will Ferrari make GTC4LUSSO successor in near future or just drop this range forever and replace by new SUV? I really hope they can keep this range, cuz not everyone likes SUV, some people like lower pratical ride, like sedan or shooting brake, Ferrari should keep this shooting brake range and make it more models of it, like 4 doors and 2 doors coupe. I mean market segmentation is important for future Ferrari, they need to consider it seriously;) I always hope Ferrari will make a F12 like with 4 doors GT sedan, it'd be so awesome. :p

Although it looks good in the shade, I would not be signing up for it! Too much out of spectrum :)

William, perhaps for the sake of prejudice the 4-door Ferraris were never my kind of Ferraris. In the Purosangue I understand the need to have 4-doors and due to the type of car and its proportions, I believe they can be well incorporated into the design. Concerning the render of GTC4 Grand Lusso the more I look at it the more my eyes can see something from the Panamera familly. I have nothing against the Panamera and its concept that suits well Porsche, but to be honest I wouldn't like to see it replicated to a Ferrari.

Do you mean from the brand in general?

It's interesting - I've always had a Ferrari as an aspiration. I'm finally now in a position to buy one (after having numerous AMGs, etc) - but I must admit that some of the recent moves have made owning a Ferrari slightly less desirable for me. But I'm not sure what undiluted aspirational brands are left? Not Lambo. Not Aston.

Part of your journey getting here has shown you how some of the magic of any of these brands happens. Don't let that peek behind the curtain ruin the fun for you. JMHO.

Thank you for posting first hand these images of the GTC4 Mule. Yesterday a respectable Italian publication named Clubalfa posted the same images together with a text. I transcribe some parts of the text:

"The Ferrari Purosangue has been in development for quite some time and will be introduced over the next two years. A series of new spy photos published on Facebook by Varryx in the past few hours reveal that the first SUV of the prancing horse has not yet moved on to the next step as the prototype is still based on the GTC4Lusso.
Ferrari Purosangue tests continue on the new SUV with the body of the GTC4Lusso. The test car has a lot of camouflage and we can rule out that it is a new version of the GTC4 Lusso as Maranello has confirmed its exit from production. The prototype appears to be significantly taller than the four-seat shooting brake, as well as having more robust wheel arches.
From the images we can see that the car in question is visibly wider both front and rear. Judging by the state of this prototype, we don't expect an imminent debut of the production version of the Ferrari Purosangue. Most likely the SUV will be released towards the end of 2022 as foreseen by the 2018-2022 roadmap announced by the Modena carmaker a couple of years ago.
In any case, the Purosangue should be equipped with a hybrid engine with a V6 or a twin-turbo V8 paired with electric powertrains. Since Ferrari has promised to keep the V12 alive for as long as possible, we can also expect a top-of-the-range version equipped with this powertrain."

Difficult to say what it looks like,
Unfortunately I can't guess the lottery numbers but I can guess that the Purosangue won't have anything in common with this rendering.

    Dear Mário,

I sincerely have my doubts. I think the automotive industry chose a path that I believe Enzo and his philosophy would, at the very least, struggle to embrace. Off-roaders can certainly be fast, but speed alone isn’t the right metrics by which a supercar should be judged, in my humble opinion. There is handling and intangibles such as aesthetics, emotion and sound, for instance.

Plus, even if we accept that Enzo would be thrilled and that an SUV is the right way to go forward for Ferrari, nowadays there are a lot of similar alternatives to the Purosangue. Ferrari has the handicap of being virtually the last to launch a car into that market niche. Virtually every supercar brand has an SUV in their model lineup. Not only Ferrari arrives late to the party, but there’s also the (short term) possibility of market saturation. Realistically, how many new, expensive SUVs can be sold in one fiscal year?

In the end, I have more questions than answers.

I’ve just been in an Urus yesterday in the Algarve. Although I have complete faith in Ferrari, the Urus will be an extremely tough act to follow, in my very humble opinion. I elect the Urus as the main rival to the Purosangue above all others. I also believe Ferrari should concern themselves with targeting the Urus buyers first and foremost.

    Kindest regards,

    Nuno.

    Nuno,
Ferrari spa present reality is completely different from the one Enzo faced when he owned the company and built and sold sports cars mainly to finance his racing team. The first SUV in the modern style is considered to be the 1984 Jeep Cherokee and because Enzo died in 1988 he didn't have the opportunity of seeing the development that this class of vehicles have had during the last 25 years. Today you can find SUVs/crossovers in the garages of most of the sports cars purists and the reason why these vehicles have succeeded is because they combine in one car several valencies that most people appreciate. As you've mentioned, the super SUVs segment is a very competitive one and has already models like the Urus. If Ferrari wants to reign in this segment the Purosangue will have to beat categorically all its competitors in terms of the design originality and performance. Let's wait for the launching of the Purosangue in order to evaluate if Ferrari was up to the challenge or not.

    Regards

I saw the Aston DBX recently in the flesh. It’s been much praised for its “beauty” (perhaps here the UK press are unduly biased to Aston/McLaren/Lotus) but it can’t hide the height and bulk of an SUV. I have faith that Ferrari will execute a fantastic design - but these are huge cars and there’s no disguising that fact. The Urus looks like a mildly rebodied Q8 - it’s a huge vehicle in the flesh. Ultimately the buyers of these cars buy them for other reasons than we buy sports cars.

I give the FUV the benefit of the doubt because I hope that Ferrari will be able somehow to reinvent the SUV based on its experience with the FF/ GTC4. I'm extremely curious to find out what they will be coming up with……...
