If they want to survive hope for them it goes better than in F1. Honda at least were paying them to use their engines. Now will have to buy Mercedes ones with little to no sponsors and best prospect to keep being fourth. If only they could make their own engines...
Your last sentence is one of the major factors I just don't support them. It might not mean anything to many where the engine came from but to me does.
and the only advantage of buying engines is that you can buy different ones. Seem to have learned that in F1 but still use the same and only one for 10 years of production now?
Sorry for digging out this one, but that bit is a non-reason as Mclaren is concerned. M838T and M840T are based as in, the whole design of the engine, on a tremendous TWR creation, further developed and modernized by Ricardo, another big name in the industry.
Myself and many others like the design, I happen to think it looks fantastic. I like the fact that they do their own thing and are just as concerned about function as form. Having a Nissan racing block is not the worst thing, they have proven to be rock solid and able to tolerate extreme loads. Seems to be a great platform. The hottest hyper cars out there use 3rd party engines. Pagani comes to mind.
I’m assuming Mandalay has never owned a 720 let alone driven one. It’s just hating on a brand for no reason. Both Ferrari and Mclaren can be good. One brand superiority does. It have to come at the expense of another.
There is a lot to like for many. I prefer BMW , BMW car and engine. Ferrari , Ferrari car and engine , Mercedes , Mercedes car and engine. etc To me the McLaren is like having a Ford GT with a Nissan engine because its faster and has a better engine. What is it then
I own a 720, Pista amongst others. How about you? Do you have ownership experience of the Mac to critique with any accuracy or should I call you and Mandaly Noone1
Im afraid Mr “Ounds” is in a whole new league owning nothing other than a keyboard and a stack of magazines. To be fair, Noone did actually own cars at one stage in the game - or so we were led to believe - and Mandalay owns a Ferrari so in comparison to “Ounds”both these guys are in great shape. Ounds is just butt hurt his little charade came undone and he is now on a mission skirting the threads seeking to lash out against those who exposed his shenanigans. Funny stuff but not surprising really. One key difference between “ounds” and noone1 is that noone1 was pro Mac and Ounds is pro Ferrari...not that any of it matters as they are both full of it.
I don’t know Mr. Ound nor have I been following his posts to know whether he is a legit car owner or not. But if you start critiquing a brand and actual owners are refuting what you say- probably best to heed the opinions of an owner. Especially owners of multiple brands. Both GH and I are Mac fans but own Ferrari’s, Porsche’s Mclaren’s amongst other Marques. Next thing you know they will try to tell me to drive in Auto mode.
Yes it sounds nice and actually looks terrific. But for me I more inclined to prefer companies with the same engine/car. Ild rather by a lambo or a Porsche any day before a Maclaren. But at no stage am I saying the Maclaren isn't good. Just not for me.
From the man who says a tesla is good looking and who sold a Pista id say not a snowflakes chance in hell. He would dislike it out of principle regardless of how good it actually sounds. Ps. Agree it looks hot with that scoop and sounds a proper beast.
I recon if you got behind the wheel of this thing Mandaly you wouldn’t know yourself. It would be a case of how big of a slice of humble pie would you be able to fit in your mouth. I would also forsee a red 488 with silver wheels and calipers on carsales in next to no time!
I fully understand what your saying. That's why I would never discredit the Maclaren. It will most likely be setting new records with the best outright performance amongst other notable qualities...… But I'm not one chasing that even though I can see there are many that will. The 765 will certainly show Ferrari but then again they probably wont care.
Depends what you criticise obviously. Never said it drives badly although many journos have said that too because of the open diff
