I guess we will know soon enough if this is an issue with Kline.

Just make sure you do enough KMs/miles before confirming. Takes a good 2-300km for it to trigger for me.

How do you like the car with 200cel? Is the sound a lot better?

Love it, sounds muuuuch better. The exhaust fitment/layout is identical from the base 488, only difference from the 488 to the pista is the exhaust manifold is now iconel, but from the turbo back, its the identical same muffler/cats etc. Due to this, I had my dealer take my FI exhaust out of my 488 spider during trade in, and install it straight onto my pista before delivery.

Its a huge difference from stock, mainly due to the cats. Past the cats, the stock muffler system (when valves are open) is pretty much straight, due to this doing an exhaust upgrade without doing the cats is pretty pointless and underwhelming.

I made the mistake of first only replacing the rear muffler and leaving the cats stock, in fear of the CEL. However was extremely disappointed as I found it almost worse than stock. Once I swapped the cats out, I was in love. a 100% must do in any 488 variant.

Any issues with the dealer and swapping the cats? and do you have flap adjustment on your exhaust?

Do you try to use spacers for the O2 sensors to avoid a CEL?

    I have them unplugged/permanently open.

Think it’ll be a dealer by dealer thing, but no absolutely no issues. Tech guys loved doing it and they preferred to do it themselves from some random 3rd party. Also gave me piece of mind that it was all done by ferrari incase of any issues, e.g if they randomly damaged a non exhaust part during install, they would fix their own mistakes.

My dealer is very good with stuff like this, and I have a good relationship with them, including the technicians that worked on it.

not really. You lose some low end torque and gain some high end. Much of a muchness really.
Was told the engine is tuned around the restriction caused by the stock unit, which is what causes the loss down low and gain up top. Never dynod or anything. I’m sure if you added a tune you could make full benefit of the extra flow for much more power, but I have left the tune stock/untouched.

No, definitely something to try but heard a lot of mixed results. These are used for engine monitoring too so restricting its access to the full exhaust flow can hamper the cars performance. Or so I’m told...

I think it’s best to just go into any cat change expecting a CEL. The old saying “hope for the best but expect the worst”. Go off the assumption it’ll happen and you won’t be disappointed.

@Vertix I know the cats are identical because the Ferrari part numbers are the same, but the muffler part numbers look like their actually different. I thought it was a slight shift in the position of the exhaust tips on the bumper between the two cars. you mentioned the OEM muffler is the same between the Pista & the 488 GTB? Can you confirm you moved that over? Or did you keep the OEM Pista muffler?

did not keep the oem muffler. Exact FI exhaust (downpipes & muffler) came straight out of 488 spider straight into pista coupe without needing any parts.

@Vertix Interesting, this opens the door to many many more exhaust options for the Pista.

Do you have any videos of your car idling & revving or driving?

Interesting on the CEL, Felix from Kline is confirming their system will not throw a code.

I have a Kline set up on order and upon install, I'm throwing a "mini cat" as they're called, in the after cat bungs just in case.

I had 200 cells on my F12 and I was throwing a light, so I had to go back in and throw mini cats in and that solved the problem

I also had 200 cell cats on my F12, assembled by IPE (I don’t know which manufacturer’s actual cat core they use). Never had a CEL. Just shows the volatility / sensitivity of O2 sensors and the differences between cat assemblers and supposedly similar cat cores.
I’m watching this thread with great interest as my Pista sounds “ok” but not great.

I'm hoping for them to arrive in 2 to 3 weeks. I'm told Kline has been backed up. I ordered them 5 weeks ago.

Yes, I will keep this thread updated after install and impressions. I do not plan to dyno or tune it.

Not many unfortunately. I'll make an effort to get some. Cars just in for a track alignment and tyres so will likely be next week until I get some for you. I have a little bit posted on my instagram but not much.

Alot of the sound doesn't really come through via phone recordings, especially the more bassy notes.

Just dont go into a turbo car looking for NA sound, go into it appreciating the differences that turbo sounds can make. Whilst turbos loose that high end scream, you gain this awesome "wake" sound on full throttle. Best way to explain it is like the noise from a jet engines wake, quite awesome to hear it blast by at trackdays!

No, as stated earlier exhaust was done pre delivery for pista. Never bothered with the stock pista exhaust as the stock 488 spider exhaust was underwhelming. All clips are with the turbo back FI exhaust w/ 200cell cats. Same exact exhaust on both cars. Was posting the clips as requested.

This wouldn't surprise me as Ferrari's muffler would have been designed for their particular sound. Better to keep the stock muffler and just replace the cats for the 200cel as when the valves open the system is straight through anyway.
