Swap deep front spoiler for shallow

Welcome brut! IIRC, It’s not that difficult:
1) remove front grill
2) it will help if you remove the front bumper
3) remove both fender louvers
4) in the fender well, remove the cover closest on the front
With all this remove, you can easily get to the small nuts and bolts inside on each side
I believe there are around seven nuts/bolts on each side.
What year is your car and what don’t you like about the Euro spoiler?

 

Just got done repairing the spoiler on my 83 US 308. Someone had put a euro spoiler on it back in the 90's when I removed it I found that the mounting holes did not come close to lining up with the fenders. I believe the spoiler was OEM Ferrari as it had the factory part number printed on it and appeared to be good quality. The front of the euro spoiler turns in sharper than the original fenders. Not sure if this is true of all US/Euro cars or they changed the width at some point. The US grill worked with the euro spoiler so I assume the reverse is true. I would take some measurements off of a US car if possible and compare. Also if you decide to change it take the car/spoiler down to a good auto paint store and have them use a color analyzer to match the paint. I had my spoiler analyzed and the match was spot on.

Agreed, I almost changed mine back and may still. Also more practical, the euro spoiler is a little low and hard to keep from scraping at times. I do like the euro bumper better.

I just bought a factory euro spoiler and was going the other way just to see how it looks and if I like it. I’ll keep my original if I decide to sell in the future so new owner can decide.

Here are both of my 85 US QV black and prugna and my friend Mike's red car for you to compare. I personally like both versions but definitely the prugna is absence of front end lift at speed beyond 80 mph. The black one with shallow front dam starts to feel some lifting beyond that speed.

Not sure where you are located but I just got an 83 and I am looking for a deep spoiler if you are interested in selling. I think I am going to keep the original so I have all the original parts but a trade may work too. My car is RC

 

I took my deep one off and put a shallow one on about 20 years ago.

I am about to swap back

I have a euro with the shallow small tiny little spoiler, I’d trade if it was an easy thing, mine will eventually go under the knife so....

 

Im curious as to what they are valued.

 

I few years ago I finally threw out my US one that I was sick of storing....I literally couldn't give it way , listed it a probably a dozen times with opening bid of $1+shipping but no one was willing to pay the shipping. Condition was fair but easily repairable....dinged on the bottom which I guess was a deal breaker.

The market for used parts seems to have completely changed, only new or like new seems to sell.....i guess that means the cars are now officially collectable more than drivable

 

I briefly chatted with that guy, have you seen his reproductions? I’m seriously thinking of buying the shallow chin as a spare but I would like to know if his productions are an accurate fit. His prices are excellent when you compare the used, beat up crap for sale.

The factory pieces are not very accurate.

When I had my deep swapped to a shallow (that I found on eBay) I remember the body guy telling me he "had to put a lot of glass in it to make it fit". Whatever he did you would never know from looking at it.

But it WASN'T a simple R&R and both pieces were factory.

 

Wow, mine must have been the exception to the rule, as my shallow to Euro swap was a true bolt-on plug-and-play.

I have heard the same thing in the past and I think its prevalent in fiberglass molded parts. Lot's of massaging going on to get the right fit and quality appearance. My factory euro valence does not have any of the holes pre-drilled. Its going to be trial and error.

 

Was it fitted up to a car previous? Might has not been.

 

The shallow spoilers are also available OEM in metal, I believe from 1978 cars and later...they are excellent quality and fit.
