Quick question on when the cut-off is to avoid a GPF-812? Does GPF start only with the 2020 model year...or is there a month within 2019 that cars built afterward are GPF equipped?

    Thanks!

GPF for all USA Superfasts began when Ferrari started production on the USA GTS.

My 2020 does not have GPF either so assume none in 2019 would in the US anyway.

How does one make the determination short of eyes-on? I recall someone mentioning an engine code sticker that would indicate presence or absence

If I am understanding Napoli's response (message #3) above...assuming it is indeed accurate...no 812 coupes should have GPF as GPF begins with 812 GTS production at which point coupe production should have ceased.

I don’t think that’s accurate. @SeattleStew was under his 812 SF and I think his has GPFs.

Ahhh...the plot is thickening. I tried to get a definitive answer from a couple dealers which have 812's I am considering and each of their respective cars doesn't have it. However, I am uncertain if they are certain what GPF is based on their initial response to my inquiry. These were 2019 model year vehicles.

    Zero USA-based 2018 and 2019 812SFs have GPFs.

And I do not believe any USA-based 812SFs with a production date prior to April 2020 have GPFs, however, if production date is after, have dealer pull up the MODIS codes for that VIN, the MODIS code will include GPF in its engine description.

For instance, MODIS engine codes for 2019s (USA) would look like this:

    F152CB 12V 2P USA MY 19

    For 2020 (USA), non-GPF code:

    F152CB 2P V12 USA ADAS MY20

If has GPF, codes will appear something like this:

    F152DB 2P V12 EURO6D GPF USA ADAS 21

(above is from an MY2021 812GTS)

I would like to get the modis engine code for my car, as I am certainly curious. When I was under there doing my xpipe it certainly appeared like there was a GPF. I could be wrong, and the engine code would confirm it

You can look under the hood. If it has the extra pipes on the intake, it has it. I took this picture of the GTS they brought to our dealership. The second picture is my car without the GPF.

My 812 does not have those hoses off the intake. However when I was under there it looked like there were 2 cats on each side. Which would lead me to believe it was a GPF car. I’ll have to take a closer look and see if I can get some part numbers

My 812 started build end of May 2020.

I was told when I ordered mine in January that all US 2020 812s would not have the GPF. If yours is a 2020 it shouldn't have the GPF. When I was at the store looking at the GTS, the SA asked me what was different about the engine and I mentioned those extra hoses. He said, yes that's for the GPF so you spotted it. Maybe it's just for the GTS because they had to make other modifications to increase the power but I would assume the same would be true for any GPF equipped 812 coupe.

Interesting! Mine is likely one of the last 812 SF produced. When I get it, I will have to take a closer look. I probably won’t escape GPFs. :(

There are a few definitive ways to determine whether or not you have the GPF. This is a quick and definitive one: Take a look into any of the exhaust pipes and if you see a honeycomb screen secreted in there, then you have GPF.

Mine is one of the last few Superfasts coming to the USA. While I hope it won’t have GPFs, I expect it will. :(

An 812 currently in production will be a GPF car. US cars have been delivered with GPF for a while now, and the production line is set up for it.

I believe that the 812 SF runs a cat and pre-cat setup, hence the two cats.

This is correct. Open the hood. Or you can look into one of the exhaust pipes for a honeycomb screen, which will indicate the presence of a GPF system.

Not so sure about that second sentence in total. Regarding us 812 superfasts there should not be many if any delivered to us with gpf. Even through end of summer us 812 SF were made without gpf
If you are talking about gts which there haven’t been many to us yet then as everyone know it will have gpf

And for Seattle...there is no way you have gpf based on when your car was made
