For the 328, just pull using an oprn spanner and a wooden pivotpoint
For the qv use an open 12mm ( or was it 14, forgot) and unscrew them completely with the bush

I didn't want to break/damage any thing... With the circlip removed should the whole injector lift out?

    Nope,

You screw that on to the injector and it provides a lip for you to pry it up using an appropriate size open ended wrench.

I made my injector removal tool for my 81 2V. The tool was easy to make:
4 inch length 1 inch aluminum pipe
    3 inch or longer M12 x 1.5 bolt
    M12 nut
M12 washer with 1 inch circumference
    M12 x 1.5 connector (female/female)

I made the connector by using two injector connectors from an 80s Mercedes which use the same Bosch injector. Using a small nut & bolt I secured them together.
I got the injector connectors from a local auto wrecking yard.
I got the nut & bolt from Napa.

Thanks for the kind words. I made several prototypes and finally came up with this version that worked the best. With the stubby ratcheting wrench the job is super quick and the tube is non marring so no scratches on the intake.

    With all respect

If you pull out the injector from the bush like that you damage the rubber inset beyond repair.

By far the best way to remove the injectors is by taking out the complete assembly use the injector as allen key and remove the injector complete with rubber bush from the bottom. After that you can remove the injector from the rubber

Pulling the injectors up can be done with the 328 setup as this is different

Others would disagree with you on this. I think Birdman was one of the first to document his 308 fuel injector removal experience on this forum and chronicled his challenges using the method you describe. In post #3 of the following thread (https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/why-and-how-to-clean-your-fuel-injectors.197021/) he outlines the challenges which include the injector shearing off in the carrier. This is mainly an issue with the softer brass injectors but having serviced hundreds of CIS injectors for folks over the years I can tell you that the steel injectors frequently suffer from distortion when using this method especially if the carriers have never been removed from the manifold and a lot of force is required.

You are absolutely correct in that. Shearing, esspecially with the brass rubbish is a concern.

Maybe i had to elaborate a little on my main concern: if you pull them out from the top, you NEED to replace the rubbers. In my experience with servicing, this is rarely done as they are hard to find and expensive. BTw, i never broke a steel one but you have to prepare them a little with penetrating oil upfront.

Understood. st@ven thanks for the added perspective regarding the need to replace the rubber bushings with the screw in carriers when extracting the injector from above.

In my case the rubber seals had pushed the injectors out of the carriers & the ones that didn’t the carriers striped when I tried to remove them with the injector. Since replacing all the seals and damaged carriers I have been able to remove the injectors & carriers as one pice.
