Thanks Peter...He’s an absolute mess...He worked so hard to get where he has..It’s so distressful as a father to watch...
Bastards, how about applying for Steve's job??? Really though I see the fire department are looking for watertanker pilots,I reckon THAT'D be an exciting job!
Very sorry to hear that Gary. You'll no doubt be telling him to focus on the positive things in his life. Men have a habit of investing our self worth in our careers or business, undervaluing family, friends, health, etc. Many people suffer big setbacks, he will recover I'm sure because of the foundation you've given him.
Sh*t. Sorry Gary, I just read this post. At least he's young and will still have the opportunity to get on to another airline when this rubbish passes?
Thanks for your kind words Ian...I’ve told him it’s just a speed hump in his career but he’s taken it so personally...We have a great supporting family network so he will get through it...And he’s got time on his side...
Thanks Gizz...Lucky he is young enough to bounce back...The whole of Dragon Air was closed today..That was over 3000 families affected...Some will never work again because of their age...
Yep we’ve all been there...School of hard knocks...It’s so hard to watch your kids go through them...But things almost always have a silver lining...
Bummer mate, can only imagine how crap he must feel. I’m sure he’ll look back one day and see it as a minor blip
Oh that sucks, Gary. I'm very sorry for him. But I can't help but feel that despite this, he will be in a very good position in the future. I know it's tough - we've all taken a kick in the guts from time to time. I got my CPL just before the whole Hawke / Keating caper. Not a good time for pilots... I needed 2500 hours just to get a job at GAM's, FFS (flying clapped out old HOSs on the dreaded mail run)... While it is no doubt painful right now, encourage him to take a long term view. He's a well qualified, young pilot. There WILL be plenty of demand in the future, even if it takes 3 or 4 years to get there. Provided he keeps a positive attitude, he'll be at the front of the queue when things pick up, as they most certainly will.
Thanks Steve...Although we’ve all been there ( more than once ) even in business it’s so hard to watch your own go through all the emotions....It certainly made me a stronger person..Resilience is a wonderful trait...I’m 100% positive he’ll come out the other end..It’s all part of the process...Dosent make it any easier at the time though....I’ll miss having a scotch up here with him watching the IPL...
All the best Gary, these are definitely weird times. I’m sure the future will be brighter!! Silly signature here to annoy KIAI
So sorry to hear that, Gary. I'm sure he's gutted, but you'll both discover that he's a lot more resilient than you thought. Have you any ideas about work (any work) to keep his hours up?
Buy him a Gerni and send Moretti over for some training???..... .....oh and while you're at it,sign him up on here he'll soon start laughing again...it's Aussie Fchat where we all GAF!
