    BS double-speak. Anyone who's written any paper that involves statistical analysis will recognise that sort of terminology from a mile off. Here: I'll give away some trade secrets of scientific thesis writing...

    Research Phrases ... Translation / Meaning
    It has long been known ... I didn't look up the original reference.
    A definite trend is evident ... These data are practically meaningless.
    Of great theoretical and practical importance ... Interesting to me.
    While it has not been possible to provide definite answers to these questions ... An unsuccessful experiment, but I still hope to get it published.
    Three of the samples were chosen for detailed study ... The results of the others didn't make any sense.
    Typical results are shown ... This is the prettiest graph.
    These results will be shown in a subsequent report ... I might get around to this sometime, if I'm pushed / funded.
    The most reliable results are those obtained by Jones ... He was my graduate assistant.
    It is believed that ... I think.
    It is generally believed that ... A couple of other people think so, too.

    I suppose articles that say things like this don’t help lend credibility to the veracity of the contents on the laptop.

    “The New York Post’s front-page article about Hunter Biden on Wednesday was written mostly by a staff reporter who refused to put his name on it, two Post employees said.

    Bruce Golding, a reporter at the Rupert Murdoch-owned tabloid since 2007, did not allow his byline to be used because he had concerns over the article’s credibility, the two Post employees said, speaking on the condition of anonymity out of fear of retaliation.”

    Apparently in addition to the FBI having the laptop since December 2019, Giuliani has had a copy of the hard drive for more than two months yet he waits till 3 weeks before the election to release some of the contents

    I have no doubt it’s Biden’s computer
    I have no doubt that most of the contents are his
    I would be very surprised if the chain of custody for a clone copy of a hard drive would be sufficient to stand up to a reasonable defence case in court
    Keen to see if the Senate can compel Hunter to table bank statements

    I thought the moderator went pretty soft on Biden in yesterday’s debate
    I was also surprised that Trump was quite soft (soft compared to what I was expecting) in his allegations of Biden’s dodgy deals
