FP3 was Red Flagged due to Vettel causing a kerb to pop up. Hopefully it gets fixed by qualifying. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Red Bull boss Christian Horner has confirmed that the Formula 1 team will look outside its pool of drivers if Alex Albon is not retained in 2021. Albon's future has been the subject of speculation all season after he has struggled to match the pace of team mate Max Verstappen. He currently has 64 points compared to the 147 of the Dutchman. Meanwhile Pierre Gasly's strong form at AlphaTauri suggested that he might be given a second chance at RBR should Albon be dropped. However Red Bull motorsport chief Helmut Marko hinted recently that the main team would not replace Albon with one its established drivers, and would look elsewhere.
Possibly that would not yield a strong enough surface or smooth enough? Would be best to avoid it no matter. More work will be needed.
Leave it to Vettel: For once he doesn't break the car but the track. Quite frankly I'm not surprised: Algarve is pretty but not quite up to speed compared to Spain. I spent some vaca time there and wasn't too thrilled.
Strange that it takes the last practice session to find out about loose drain covers. I would have thought that a circuit is thoroughly inspected by the FIA before racing is allowed.
I suspect that the suction caused by the downforce of the F1 cars loosened a cover that was previously well held down.
No way the track is safe... The marshal pulling up with 1/2 kg force is not even close to adequate to confirm bits are secure.
