It's not a question of nationality, but the origin of the money; a subject that has already been discussed on this forum.

Have you met him? What a hateful person...

Perhaps Ecclestone could have bought to turn it around?

How Stroll made his fortune? By selling overpriced clothes made in sweatshops in Asia.

Maybe, but you could say the same about most of the clothing, fashion, cosmetic and accessories industries in the West.

It's the story of most oligarchs who used public fund to build their business empire when the economy was privatised in Russia.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dmitry_Mazepin

    Controversies and criticism
Mazepin was accused of conflicts of interest during his stint at the Russian Government Property Fund, as he was also on the board of several enterprises at the time, including Krasnoye Sormovo Shipyard and Kuzbassugol Coal Company, which he allegedly privileged in corporate disputes with competitors.

In the mid-2000s, Dmitry Mazepin became embroiled in a conflict around Gazprom assets. The assets were divested by Nikolay Gornovsky, CEO of Gazprom subsidiary Mezhregiongaz, in late 2002, without permission or knowledge of the Gazprom management. Part of these assets ended up in Mazepin's possession some time after that. In 2006, Gazprom was able to recover the assets, including an 18% equity stake in Azot Chemicals Company.

Starting from 2007, Mazepin has been regularly accused of attempting to use "raider methods" to take over Togliattiazot (TOAZ), a public company where he has been consistently persecuting the executives. TOAZ CEO Sergey Makhlai accused Mazepin of making personal threats against himself. According to Makhlai, Mazepin threatened him with instigating a criminal investigation against him unless he agreed to Mazepin's terms for selling TOAZ to Mazepin.

    etc ... etc ...

I like how you cut off exactly where it mentions that Sergey & Vladimir Makhlai where sentenced to prison terms, not Dmitry.

But Bas, currently the Russian state is a mafia, with Putin on top. You can bet that all these big Russian companies that depend on government licenses & controls are also part of this mafia.

An awful day for Lance. And to top it off, Perez faded at the end. Still it must suck to realize the Tracing Point team is replacing Perez with the rather flaccid Vettel.

And things might turn ever worse for Perez if the stewards punish him for his double swerve against Gasli.

True, Lance blotted his copybook this afternoon.

One thing though ... Lance was penalised for making contact early in the race, but Verstappen did the same and wasn't even investigated.

    Just saying ...

Lance got a 5sec penalty for incident with Norris.

Lance got a 5sec penalty for exceeding track limits....4x!!!

    So 10sec timed penalty.

Lance retires from the race on lap 54. According to Otmar, Lance's retirement was for damaged floor and car damage.

They are arguing for the sake of arguing.

It's well known that when Russia decided to privatise its economy under Yeltsin in the 90s (everything was state-owned before), most of the industrial concerns, the banks, the energy resources, the means of exchange and distribution were just grabbed by their management, ministers, or top civil servants, largely with mafia participation. Denationalisation in Russia meant going from state control to mafia control, and the public never benefited from it.
None of the oligarchs we see now flounting their money ever launched an enterprise, developped an industry or created wealth like our billionaires in the West.

Just a sad example: just this weekend, Petrov's father was assassinated. He was a local boss who had made his fortune by taking over state properties in the 90s.
