Thank you for your response. Clearly it is a testing mule ... but for which model ... a regular production mid engine V-12 or Laferrari replacement?

So is the rumor around town the next "812" will be a NA v12? or use a turbo or hybrid assist?

True, didn't notice it when I posted these pics. Possibly using a F12 body to test components for the 812 VS or other models?

What it’s previewing is that clearly the 812 VS is going to have an aggressive S-duct front end just like the Pista! And I for one say ‘Oh hell yeah!’

Respectfully, that doesn’t really make sense. There are already numerous mules running around for the 812 VS and the Little Brother V6 mid-engine. The 812 VS mules are modified 812 SFs and F12s and the LB V6 mules are 488s with hybrid warning stickers on them.

In my thinking there are only 3 possible models Ferrari would use a LaFerrari mule to develop and I will list them in order of probability:

    1. Halo hypercar direct replacement for Laferrari
    2. Mid Engine Icona perhaps F40 inspired or Testarossa inspired
    3. A regular production mid-engine V 12 which would become king of the regular production line up positioned on top of SF90.

Hopefully ferr9000 or day355 can confirm which one it is for!

You and me both! It’s been far far too long since more than 499 people on the planet could buy a new Ferrari mid-engine V12 and even then only once every 10 years!

Just as there was huge pent up demand for a drop top V12 and the 812 GTS is a huge sales success ... I believe Ferrari would have even larger financial growth and sales success with a regular production mid-engine V12 even if it was a smaller displacement hybrid V12, which it probably would be. I, as you probably are, am a purist and I prefer UNASSISTED V12s over hybrids but I feel the 812 series is the last of the regular production UNASSISTED V12s. That being said, at least with a hybrid you don’t get the sound muffling and high pitch whine associated with turbos and the ICE power plant itself is naturally aspirated. Having at least some electric-only driving capability is becoming mandated due to ever tightening global regulations hence ALL future Ferraris other than perhaps Iconas will unavoidably be hybrid. Because the V12 itself would be naturally aspirated, it will still sound proper and amazing. For that reason plus having both the driving dynamics of a mid-engine combined with a V12 motor, I for one, would be the first in line for that car!

The F-12 mule has the look of a possible S-duct but probably un-workable. The S-duct air to create downforce would also be needed to cool the V-12 in front of car.
