Hey Klaar, Definitely interested in getting one of those... let me know the cost... BTW, do you have any pics? DF
Dan Will try to upload a couple of pics soon. All I need is the cost of the materials..not much! You can paint it..find a peice of steel for the bracket and pop rivet it on...(holes will be drilled) I will post what the materials are worth as soon as I finish this one. Cheers
Cover is now completed. Pleased with the results...for the clip...I used a 6 inch by 1 inch De Walt sabre saw blade...ground off the teeth and cold formed for the correct angles..then pop riveted to the cover. Clip was painted black. Your comments are welcome. Here are some pictures of the finished product (location holes were not drilled at the time of the photos) Cheers DY Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login

Yes - looks like a beautiful job. I think I'll try to strengthen/repair mine, which has some weak edges, etc. I've never done fiberglass work.... any advice? Thanks.
Will make a couple more this weekend (weather is crap here..no driving!) Figure $50 plus postage is sufficient to cover the materials. For the record..this is just being done as a favour and is not meant to compete with the official parts suppliers. I figure we can use all the support we can get with these machines LOL!
I am not an expert on fibreglass...dabbled when I raced years ago. One important thing....clean well..I use acetone. It is very forgiving as you can grind/sand etc when hard. Use similar matting/cloth to get the desired finish. Quite easy really. Practice on a piece of wood first. Good luck
I'm in!!! PM me the details on payment and anything else. Thanks so much. You definitely have the passion of the Brotherhood.
Hi, I've been after one of these for a while, If you still open to making them and don't mind shipping to the UK I'm in. Thanks Tal
Two ready for painting...two more in the first matting stage. Should have them all complete and ready to mail this weekend.
Reviving and old thread... Has anyone made any progress since 2008 toward making their own battery cover? Looks like user "klaar" hasn't been seen on FChat since 2009. Or are there any other solutions out there that haven't been discussed in this thread (aside from buying the odd-looking cover from superformance)?
Superperformance in UK sell carbon ones if that helps - top item below http://www.superformance.co.uk/348/fittings.html
punchy at £170 and although I have some other carbon parts in the interior (competizione parts) I think it looks a bit aftermarket having carbon in the engine bay! It is one thing I would love to get sorted though!
Eurospares has one listed on parts drawing 042 which I read somewhere was a close reproduction but the price is 401 pounds (way to much). I need one and was considering the carbon fiber one and covering it with fiberglass cloth painted silver to make it look like the original.
