What car are you referring to? The Cullinan only comes in one size.

SUVs (crossovers) are the most popular vehicle segment currently. Perhaps those in your area are wary of flooding and would prefer the added ground clearance.

Indeed ... referring to the Range Rover as RR is somewhat confusing as RR actually stands for Rolls Royce :)

Well it also stands for Range Rover an SUV which is what I have and is also listed in my sig and what we were talking about but I can understand the confusion since now Rolls Royce makes an SUV, crazy as that seems.

The Purosangue will have to be a kind of Swiss knife in order to preserve the road performance of the GTC4 and combine it with added off-road capabilities. That can only be achieved by being able to lower or increase the ground clearance and the center of gravity of the car automatically and on demand, according with the specific driving conditions. Nowadays the last generation air suspension systems are able to move the car up and down automatically more than 4 inches transforming the ground clearance of a sedan into the one of an Suv.
The images below show what the Purosangue might look like when configured at different driving heights.

I’m not sure it needs to be very good off road.

Just enough to get through the snow especially on a powder day, so at least 16 inches of clearance.

16 inches would be pretty high riding, no? From what I've seen online our Cayenne has 9" or so of ground clearance. It's our first SUV; we've been off roading on it, albeit nothing crazy, but it's been competent...T

Tom congratulations the Cayenne is a great SUV. The ground clearance on a Cayenne with air suspension I looked and it varies between 6.37 in. (162 mm) and 9.64 in. (245 mm). Now I'm completely addicted to the air suspension comfort and flexibility and I remember when I specified my present SUV 5 years ago thinking of having the standard suspension. It was only after I drove the same SUV with the two alternative suspensions that I realized that the difference is night and day and they seemed to be two different vehicles. The air suspension system on my SUV is very similar to the one on the Cayenne and automatically drops to its lowest height when driving fast for reduced drag and improved stability and it can crouch even lower when parked for easier loading of luggage.

    Hi Mario,
what model SUV do you own?
I do hope that FUV comes with adjustable ride height.

Tom before I tell here publicly what's my SUV model I want to say something but please don't be shocked or laugh. The truth is I've never had a german car in my entire life ….:)
My SUV is a Volvo XC90 equipped with all the extras and I've been a faithful customer of this Swedish brand for many years and I continue being despite some people now saying that it is a Chinese brand (Chinese owned yes but the technology and management are very Swedish).

Here are some pictures of our Cayenne out in the oilfields on the higher setting back in 2014. I just didn't get a confident feeling that the car could absorb the shock of driving through the ruts and then there are the mesquite bushes that can scrape the paint. Had that happen on an X5 back in 2011 and my wife was pissed. So that is what led to buying RRs.

    I think it was a joke... ;)

You have to be running 40” tires at least to get that ground clearance. At least with solid axles. :D

Still cracks me up that you drive a RR on 2 track roads with mesquite! My SUV is. Wrangler so I can also drag behind a motorhome. I would totally get a RR if I could flat tow.

Volvo is a good product from what I have read. It was a finalist when the wife bought the Honda Ridgeline. In the end, lower cost, closer dealer and pickup over SUV won out...T

LOL. Perhaps. Living in Texas, big trucks are what it's all about! I never wanted a pickup truck before moving here, now I want this! More than a new Ferrari.

Personally, I wish Ferrari would can the FUV and focus on a FPU (Ferrari pickup)! [emoji2]

Nice. With the Pepper, we've been on unpaved county roads. It handled them fine. Nothing as extreme as what you've done.

IMO, if this is going to be a real SUV effort, then it needs 4 doors, higher than average (or adjustable) ride height, and 4WD. Otherwise, it'll be a niche offering like the FF, GTC4Lusso, etc., which are great cars, but they're not SUVs...T

If Ferrari made a pickup, it would be a SWB SuperCab Raptor (The LWB SuperCrew is a whole different truck; it's not a Baja runner). It handles like a three ton Ferrari. Level and controllable right up until the tires complain (The stock BFG AT K02's are amazing on the street). I got to play with mine in the snow a week ago.

Race Red is an almost perfect copy of Rosso Corsa, isn't it. :)

All the FUV has to do is be able to get up to the lodge and slopes for ski season.

Man...those lifted trucks look so weird with standard axles. If they converted them to portal axles it wouldn't look bad and actually have improved ground clearance when lifted unlike that truck.

Tom I expect that the Purosangue FUV will be a 4WD like the GTC4 with a similar road performance, 4 doors and a bigger interior space capable of sitting 5 persons with comfort. I think will be logic for the Purosangue to have an adjustable air suspension which once lifted transforms it not in a real off-road SUV but on a GTC4 with improved off-road capabilities.
