    Turn 8 is a flat-out curve. It's a semi power track.

The track itself departed from the Tilke-norm of having a long straight followed by a tight hairpin, instead using the considerable elevation changes of the site to create a fast and challenging course. Initially designed to be run clockwise, as per the majority of circuits, Tilke quickly realised that a more challenging course would result if the direction was switched.

Indeed, the whole circuit was designed to prove a test for the drivers; Turn 8 was deliberately made more difficult by its combination of speed, multiple-apexes and slight bumpiness, earning itself a nickname of 'Diabolica'... Elsewhere, Turn 1 was approached via a considerable descent before rising back up a hill, while the back straight featured a swooping uphill kink in the middle, which soon became known as 'Faux Rouge' in homage to the famous turn at Spa-Francorchamps.

It's a bit too circumvoluted for my taste.

I have always enjoyed this circuit and Massa was consistently fast here as well. Challenging place. Glad to see it again!

Istanbul 2008, onboard lap with Felipe: enjoy:)

I knew it was a great track but must admit it is even better than I remembered. Can't wait!

I don't disagree, but unfortunately F1 has given us a crap product to watch come race day.

I still remember the gurgling sound Weber carbs made on my Fiat X1/9*.
While they don't have the turbine like smoothness of fuel injection, they sound more 'humane'.

For the sound yes but not the safety record, I have tried all sorts of racing cars for articles including sports prototypes such as 333SP, 512M and raced late 80's single seaters but while I aim to test an F1 car and was offered to test one (I did not fit LOL) I do NOT wish to get myself into one of those early sixties ones: very precarious.

That's why I find racing in historic series very precarious, although I live watching them.

DRS1 zone looks interesting. I remember watching Webber and Vettel crash. After the race my nephew and I went collecting bits and pieces from that crash.

As for the forecast: let it rain, let it rain, let it rain
