Should have tried this sooner but what a blast! Sucker really takes off and controls the wheel spin. I kept doing it over and over, like a amusement park ride!

Does it do the up shifts for you during the launch? And which manettino setting do you use? In my 458, it would shift for me in Sport, but not in Race

You put it in manual mode, first gear, hold the brake and mash the throttle. It up shifts on its own and I did it in race mode.

What about the LAUNCH button, where does that come in to play?

Whoops forgot that part! Once you have it in first gear (in manual mode) and your foot on the brake you hit the PS button (Performance Start). PS shows up on the gear indicator and your good to go!

I'm curious about the mash the pedal part.

What does that mean. ie Do you floor the pedal and hold it to the floor (don't the revs go thru the roof or are they limited to a value) then let go of the brake while keeping the pedal floored and whala?

Or do you need to sync flooring the pedal with brake release ?

I've never tried it and I'm afraid for me I will break the damn thing ...

You hold the brake down, put the throttle pedal to the floor and hood it there, car holds revs around 4k I believe. Release the brake, keep the pedal to the floor and the car does all the shifting and traction control.

You won't break the car. Foot on the brake. Press PS (you'll get a notice on the screen saying launch activated or whatever) and then mash the throttle, let the revs build, release and you're off. I find that Ferrari's don't "launch" particularly hard compared to other brands. Nothing like a Porsche. There's a half second period before the car really jumps.

I still can't get over the fact that it is called PS in the US. What does the cruise control button read lol?

One thing I've come to learn is this. The rate at how fast you let go of the brake, actually has an effect on how hard the car launches. Also, if you do a few launches back to back, the car starts to memorize the surface.

So you have a PS button and a Pit Speed button? Talk about odd.
Let's hope that you guys get the Launch button next time around. That's just weird.:)

Not to beat this anymore , but I thought putting in manual mode (or said another way , not pressing the auto mode button) would require the driver to shift...

So I guess you are saying the PS mode over rides manual mode ...

Yeah I thought that was weird that you put it in manual mode. But you do and it shifts on its own.

Pit Speed is more of a dial than a button.

This doesn't make sense - Launch in my 458 works just like Buddy's F8 (and probably the same as his previous 458). Matter of fact it even shifts for you with CT Off when in launch mode.....

Agree. Every single DCT Ferrari I have driven, shifts on its own from Launch. Now to the best of my recollection, if you start to shift it will go manual. But for a Launch, there's really very little chance of you hitting the right shift points. For maximum accelleration each shift point is unique, and more often than not, at lower revs than what people might think.

you are probably right, because there was probably something wrong with my electronics, and eventually the car wouldn’t shift for me no matter which mode I had the car in.

Interesting. As Il Co-Pilota said, if you use the paddles during a launch event, it will then assume you want to shift yourself. Did you confirm an electronics issues or maybe it was battery related? As silly as it sounds, a weak battery can cause all sorts of issues.

Buddy, I think you’ll have more fun launching your new Turbo S than your F8. Nothing touches the launch in a Porsche.
