Agree on Lance improving a lot this year.
Seb lost his mojo because he realized he can do nothing against Charles.
Against Stroll he will quickly recover confidence.

Congrats to Stroll, a great performance today and a well earned pole. Some of his best drives have been in wet and changing conditions, even if he isn't as quick in the dry as some of his fellow young drivers, he's their equal or better in the wet.

Vettel carries all bad habits of the last 5 years to Clone Point. I am not counting on him and a magical restoration of results. He is one who should have left for a year possibly.

Credit where it's due, even if Red Bull didn't mess up, Stroll had a mighty fine lap.

I was very pumped to see this today. Great lap, awesome job, party on Lance. He needed this.

Sadly I think that is the high for the weekend. I see a very slightly chance of him remaining on the podium. With that being said I would love to be proved wrong.

Like Renault's recent podium, or Gasly's win, RP's pole is a fluke and is not a trend that will repeat this season. Or probably next.

Stroll was doing great until he had to pit for new inters. Listen to your pit box Lance. They know more than you. Stroll finished the race P9.

    Perez P2.

Note: They are letting go the best driver of the team for 2021.

OMG how I laughed. Does yesterday’s crow come with Return to Sender packaging??!

Stroll pulled it out of the bag today. He once again attempted to throw away his undisputed status of worst driver wdc on Saturday, but it looks like he got his head together just in time for race day and delivered a magnificently laughable performance to finish P9. Naturally he will be disappointed. He only needed to drop two more places to be out of the points completely. Better luck next time.

Well, they did not pit Perez and he went on to keep P2. The fresh Intermediates were not working at that point in the race, Bottas was also struggling massively. It seemed like the slickified Inters were the best tire out there. Lance let it slip after a too ambitious manoevre but the biggest cock-up here came from Racing Point's pit wall

Poor Stroll. I just knew he would lose it when they changed Tyres, no matter what tyre compound/tread and matter when. Sure enough . . .

Stroll actually questioned the team's decision to pit and put on new inters and he was right. Had he done a Hamilton and not listened to his team, he might have been able to podium.

They expect Vettel to assist that strategic effort. I hope Vettel is ready for all the 'teaching' next year lol. Beyond letting a good driver go Cloner Point need more experience on the pit-wall. Vettel cannot do it all. If anything the biggest weakness for them is the pit-wall. They are not trophy calibre just yet, no??

Absolutely agreed. They screwed up royally today with Lance and they have done it before. Also agreed that a driving Vettel cannot help much with RP's bozos at the pit wall. But maybe Stroll Sr. is thinking longer term? As in 2022 Vettel might have enough and becomes a member on the pitwall akin to what Prost is doing for Renault? There he could be really valuable.

That said RP deserves credit for being 3rd in the WCC.

I sense that Vettel will drive and leave F1. I think family is very important for him. Im not certain a pitwall life would enhance that for him. Maybe so. Certainly his experience will be a benefit. AM will need to find a true leader for the pitwall to accelerate up the grid. Funding is not a problem.

With a good car and leadership, for me the better Aston Martin(AM), would be Vettel and Perez. That would be a powerful team of drivers with good strategy leadership.

Vettel was chosen as ambassador for Aston Martin. That normally comes with a PR life, so I assume he'll be sticking around the team beyond his driving career. So I can definitely see him on the pitwall.

Guy leads almost 65 percent of the race and gets called into the pits for a tire change. Questions it. Does it anyway. Never recovers.

Team mate who didn't come in finishes second. Hamilton doesn't pit wins race.

Ferrarichat: worst driver ever. Why does he have a seat. Blah blah blah.

For how much good information we can get from FChat this sub section really likes to make my brain hurt sometimes. But let us banter on!

So far in the press we know little of what caused this loss of pace for Stroll. The press I saw says he is confused as to why he lost pace. Do you have anything???

Personal opinion...good part of it to me is his race craft. He has done this before where he just doesn't adapt and drops back.

The other part seems to be a mental point. He questions the inters and that could have brought him doubt. Lack of faith etc...

But those are just thoughts. I didn't think he stood a chance to win until I watched him hit half way in the lead. A top 6 would have still been OK but man not 9th.

Drivers pitted between laps 33 thru laps 36 (with Stroll) for new inters.

Some made the most of it...others didn't. It was all due to tire management given the inters and track evolution.

Stroll failed in the new inters while others capitalized on it.

Yes. Stroll does not understand the tyres. The leading drivers all worked out that once through the graining phase the tyres performed better. They managed the tyres. They made them last. They scored good points. Stroll just comes on the radio complaining about his inters graining.

Racing Points pit wall is also clearly useless and has been all season. They aren’t coaching stroll well enough and he’s not interested enough to want to learn either. Lose lose for the team.
