    Well, I have to say I feel like putting in the child seat in the back of the Lusso involved as much cursing and beers as some of you have had the pleasure of dishing out when replacing the Lusso battery! Boy was a little [fun] adventure.

    Disclaimer: I have a toddler, not an infant, so I didn't try to place any infant car seats.

    Here's the quick stats on my setup

    · US Market (LHD) GTC4Lusso with Leather standard rear seats
    · Munchkin Brica Elite Seat Guardian Car Seat Protector - we used this extensively on previous cars including our current SUV and it's been great
    · Forward Facing Nuna Exec Child Seat (2019/2020 model) - just got this as it is a little slimmer than the Nuna Rava which I test fitted as well. Good news: both fit and my wife and toddler really both love the design of the Nuna seats.
    Learnings:
    1. PASSENGER SIDE PLACEMENT FEELS RIGHT: On US market cars, the 60 side of the 60/40 split folding is on the passenger side. I wanted to at least be able to retain some utility without taking the seat out regularly. I tried the seat on the drivers side but the even the Nuna Exec is too wide for the center arm rest to comfortably fold down. Solution: Passenger side placement at least allows the 40 side of the rear seat to fold. If your seat is narrow enough that the center arm rest can fold, you can still manually fold down the center arm rest if you want to go 60 split to work, you just have to deal with a little protrusion of the latch.
    2. REAR SEAT SHAPE SUCKS FOR CHILD SEATS: The shape of the rear seat [almost like it's shaped for a big arse] and the lack of vertical space from floor to roof makes maneuvering inside the car to place the seat a little more challenging. Solution: just deal with it by cursing periodically and drinking beer.
    3. SEAT SHAPE + BELT BUCKLE POSITION MAKE TIGHTENING DIFFICULT: The position of each end of the lap belt make the angle of attack of the belt into the seat's belt passthrough more vertical than it is in other cars. The result is that cinching down the belt is much harder as you are trying to pull *up* to cinch versus leaning back and pulling forward to cinch the child seat into the backrest. Solution: Most who've dealt with child seats recently know this, but I totally forgot and had to do it over several times until I remembered this trick. After passing the belt through the child seat and buckling it in, avoid using the seat belt lockout until you've pulled all the slack out. Pull on the center of lap belt first to take out slack from the bolted end. Then place one knee on the child seat and lean your big adult weight onto the seat and slide the slack through the buckle and pull again on the shoulder section. While keeping your weight on the child seat, activate the seat belt lock and let out all the slack so it locks up tight. Then close the lid on the pass through and seat should not wiggle.
    4. REAR HEADREST IN THE WAY: The rear headrests have no hole where it meets the backrest, so you gotta pick which side the safety clip belt is going to go over. Solution: I chose the side closer to the window as it seemed to counteract and correct the slight lean in the seat toward the buckle when I tightened down the seat
    5. DON'T FORGET THE SAFETY CLIP BELT + PROTECT LEATHER Before cinching the seat down, it's important to remember to toss the child safety clip over to the trunk. There's zero chance you'll pull it through after if you've installed the seat properly. Solution: don't forget! To protect the leather on the side of the head rest, throw in a little 6"x 6" glass microfiber or something to reduce the risk of creasing in the leather as you tightening it down
    For anyone out there still contemplating whether to pull the trigger on the GTC4Lusso as a daily/weekend family car, this car is by far one of the coolest cars I've owned! As you parents out there know, and as many have said before me, having a kid changes your perspective whether you want it to or not. I am so happy that Ferrari made this car. It's given our family a way to experience the magic of Ferrari together all at once.

    Here's the passenger seat set for a smaller passenger, my wife, sitting reasonably comfortably.

    Here's the seat set so I can sit very comfortably. Your kid will kick you! I have Ferrari seat covers on the way for this that we'll just throw on if our toddler is riding with us.. The typical Weathertech seat back cover/organizer doesn't work well as the headrest/backrest doesn't really have a transition where the cover can hang from like most regular vehicles.

    I have 2 Rodino seats and they got perfect with plenty of room.

    Not sure if this was mentioned but IMO it’s a must to remove the lumbar portion of the rear seats when installing a child seat. They clip in and out.

    Wow, didnt know that! And yes, the Isofix anchors are IMPOSSIBLE to latch with the lumbar portion of the seats on. I will try to get them off next time I am close to my car.

    Can’t take credit for the idea....

    After swearing for about 10 minutes I looked in the manual because I thought there’s no way it should be this difficult! It was an almost impossible task. You also gain a considerable amount of leg room for the kids and thus the front seats.

    Thanks to you I had to crack open the buttoned up child seat install one more time to have a look at all the fuss about lumbar removal.

    It makes a huge difference in space!!

    One thing I also noticed is getting that lumbar backrest reinstalled is a bit of a challenge! I had to nearly remove the seat bottom to get it installed!

    I just got my 2018 V12 Lusso today and am so glad I found this thread. I’ve got two car seats to put in. (Both front facing, one for a toddler, the other is more of a booster.)

    To be clear, does the manual say something about how to remove the rear lumbar? I wiggled it around successfully, but was worried about damaging it so I didn’t pull harder. (And couldn’t quite figure out where to pull from, top or bottom.)

    I’d love some tips or tricks for how to remove it. (Or a page number in the manual!)

    Here’s the back side. The lower white “blade” slides in and then you push the female clips at the top into the male counterparts that are in the recess behind the seat.

    To remove pull the top off the clips (takes a good tug) and slide the blade out.

    Any tips for re-installing the lumbar section of the rear seat? I'm doing a car seat uninstall and I've fiddled with it for way too long now!!!!! Do the top clips go in first? I'm having such trouble plus the nut and bolt seem to be in the way. Is it just about angles? I'm beyond frustrated. Thanks!

    By the post from @gilly6993 above, it sounds like I actually reinstalled it backwards by trying to engage the top of the section to the backrest first. I honestly only reinstalled it once, and swore to myself never to do it again until I decided to sell the car!

    So the Taycan GTS ST that I ordered back in Nov. 2021 still hasn't even been picked up by an allocation in Jul. 2023, and I'm back here again to see if anyone has tried installing Diono Monterey booster seats in the back of the Lusso? In just 2 short years, the kiddo is much bigger now. While the Nuna Exec works fine, we ended up repurposing it for our 2nd kid after graduating them out of the infant seat. The Lusso currently has no car seats in the back again, but I am considering the Diono Monterey 5iST for a few reasons:
    • Narrow base may work well with the Lusso seat
    • Portable -- we are considering it for travel so we can avoid hauling to big Nuna Exec seats. I'm also hoping the install is easy enough that I can just keep it in my trunk most of the time
    • Seems comfortable and adjustable based on reviews I've read
    Any feedback on preferred boosters would be awesome.

    Boosters are tough. The one I had in the other cars was just too tight in the Lusso and I didn’t want to chew up the seats. And you need the lumbers installed to be comfortable so that’s even less room for something

    My 8 year old (almost 9) goes without a booster. She went straight from the Diono to no booster in this car only…..

    Hi all,

    Recently bought an approved GTC4 Lusso V12 in the UK. Had been looking at FFs but struggling to find one with panoramic roof and spec to my taste, budget kreep and all the stories associated with the FFs pushed me towards the newer model. For 50% extra. Probably not the best financial decision I've ever made but sometimes you can't argue with your heart.

    Main reason for the purchase was to have something in which I could share adventures with my 3.5 and 6yr old children. Another 2 seater in London would have meant little to no use for the car and the little use would have been without them. I wanted to share my passion and try to have a special four seater to do so.

    Thanks to the good tips on this thread I managed to remove quite easily the lumbar support. A good firm tug is needed left and right on each of them. They will release with a metallic thud. Then they are out. I thought it would be easy. Not so much.

    I installed our current seat which I was hoping would be compact enough - Cyber Solution T I-fix. It has isofix mounts. Finding the isofix mounts even without the lumbar support is a challenge as space is very tight in there and you can't see anything obviously from the sides. But we managed to get there. Why on earth Ferrari could not make the isofix anchors more accessible is beyond me. It's their 4 seater at the end of the day.

    I have installed a protective cover between the seat and the Cybex, to try and safeguard the leather from marks. It's worked pretty well on our BMW X5 leather so am hoping can do the same here..

    The MAIN ISSUE though is that despite the seat fairly compact, cinching the car seat belt buckle (clicking into place effectively) is not that easy. The buckle receptacle being really buried deep on the side of the tunnel, well below the child seat. So it requires quite. bit of dexterity to lock into place. And not sure totally doable for my children to do it on their own like they do on the BMW. Possibly another simpler design seat could help, narrower base for example, I need to do a bit of research.

    If anybody can recommend some good 3+ seats similar to the Solution T it would be welcomed. I am almost tempted to have my 6 year old go without seat as the seats are pretty snug. But not sure that's the best idea. as the seatbelt could still be a bit too high for him. I'll post some pictures later today I forgot to take my phone with me when I did the workout install session yesterday evening.

    Rosino....yes the belts are tough for the kids with isofix seats in. For a very long time I buckled them up myself but do know one day they can do it themselves!.

    So for the 6 year old you may be Ok going to a booster seat without the isofix. I went with an inflatable one off Amazon (hiccapop Uberboost inflatable Booster). It is narrow and fits nicely. I put the lumbars back in as well.....My youngest is now 8 and still uses the booster as she likes sitting a little higher to see....

    I’m not familiar with your car seat, but I’ve tried several in my Lusso. I’ve tried the Hicapop, but I was a little worried that it seems to be a temporary booster, so I wanted something a little more solid. My older child uses the following booster seat:

    Cosco Topside Booster Car Seat

    My younger child uses a full car seat with Latch (I believe this is the same as isofix), so we don’t use the car seat belt at all. I think this is the model, but I’ve tried so many I’m not 100% sure. I can check this evening:

    I use this car seat https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08C79V1G1/ref=pe_386300_442618370_TE_dp_i1.

    I’ve installed it with and without the lumber piece. It fits a little better without it.

    you can also install the strap over the back of the seat through the headrest. I popped off the end on the car seat itself and fished it under the leather (it’s pretty flat) so it makes a good connection to the back how it is designed to work.

    I also have a bunch of padding to prevent the leather getting wrinkled but that’s just me.

    These are the answer. Have to thank my wife for finding them… she likes the car as much as I do! Nothing hard jabbing the seats and they flip into the boot in half a second. Super light and our girls say they are very comfy. They call them their racing vests :)
