    I think it was Stroll that ran off track on the right, and some debris got kicked up. Also, an Alfa ran off track on the left.

    Wow. Just composing myself after the shock of seeing that ‘live’. I was certain he was dead. I’ve not seen a crash like that for decades. Today was victory for safety progress, for science and for engineering. Every single safety innovation was needed today. Halo, Hans, nomex, carbon safety sell, helmet designs, medical car protocols, etc etc. Had any one of those been absent, I fear the outcome would have been tragic. We have witnessed a miracle. Wow - I need a strong drink.

    Just to address some comments, that spot is not one where accidents normally happen as it is the start of a straight plus he went in at an abnormal angle.

    The barriers have many more safety layers in the usual crash spots.

    My thought as well, sad, he should have won two GP's in the Lotus years, Nurbugring Vs Seb and Valencia.

    Not at all the ideal way for him to go into the winter while looking for his next drive...

    Grid is screwed up. Bottas was in 6th, Charles in 10th, Vettel in 16th. Are they going to fix by the start?
