The Daytona was the very first thing that came to my mind the instant I saw the Roma. So much so that my initial thought was that the Roma was the new Icona car, paying homage to it. I didn’t think ‘Aston Martin’ until I read others saying the see a resemblance. Frankly, I still don’t. The Roma looks like an Aston in the way a pug looks like a pit bull. Yeah, they share the basics...but the details are WAY different. Sent from my iPad using FerrariChat.com mobile app
So simple question, as I enter my golden years is the Roma the right GT car to carry me and the Mrs. halfway across the country (USA) to visit grandkids and hit a few bucket list stops along the way? Reviews are strong from the magazines and YouTubers (fear of being banned by Ferrari.) To be honest, not much difference, looks wise from an AM DB111, which are practically given away. Any boomers giving this car consideration? MB
I loved the Roma, and I'm 66 years old currently driving a 2014 Carrera S Cab, which I bought new, but is now too low to the ground and too rough riding for my aging body. The Roma is far more comfortable without being "plush". I previously owned an Aston Martin Vantage (prior generation) and the Astons are different cars. More luxurious, softer overall, larger - and in my opinion - less integrated as a design and more a collection of parts. Good parts, but you see Volvo, Jaguar, and Ford tags all over the car on components when you work on it (prior gen, I don't know about current models). To be sure, Astons are nice, but they are no where near as edgy and dramatic as the Roma which I had a 30 minute test drive in. Try them both, dealers have demos on each of them now.
Drove the car yesterday... if I were Aston or Porsche I would be very worried. It is the first Ferrari that is a genuine rival and in my opinion better than both. It feels compact and responsive, power is excellent, ride and handling surprisingly good, the digital interface is finally competitive, there is really nothing missing. The fuel consumption I saw was shockingly low, I want to drive the car again to confirm I wasn’t dreaming...It is a true daily driver with enough excitement to be your only car. I am sure buyers in Switzerland will lament that it is not 4WD (main attraction to 911 Turbo S) but on a good set of winter tyres it will be fine for 95%+ of days. Having used a F12, Lusso, 812 SF, Portofino on a regular basis, I would prefer the Roma as a DD. The V12 is something else, but it is also more expensive, more exotic and more compromised (size, consumption, driver interface). The Roma still feels like a Ferrari, but doesn’t ask drivers to compromise in any way. I can see owners doing huge mileage in these. On a separate note. I am glad Ferrari finally realised that thinner steering wheels have better feel. McLaren did it on their cars (one of the features I liked most on mine) and now the Roma and SF90 have a wheel that is a real joy to hold. Sent from my iPad using FerrariChat
I'm a Boomer by a month and change, so take this free advice for what it is worth! Among the F-cars I have driven recently - F8S, Roma, Porto & my own '11 California, which I dearly love - if we take $$ out of the equation, the F8 Spider would be the one I would go for assuming, for example, you have no back issues that make getting out of a low-slung car a chore. The one I test drove was a total peach. It was very liveable dawdling around town on surface streets in Comfort, and a beast on the highway in Sport (may have been Race, my memory is faulty on manettino settings). Looked great. Whether you could drive half way across the US in it, I can't say. For that I'd want a 2+2 and like something more comfortable/capacious than an F-car, like an SUV...T
I'm 68 and after driving sports cars since I was 15, I am ready for a GT car. My latest sports car is a 430 Scuderia which I have driven about 1,500 miles a yr. for the past 4 yrs. I love the car because of the amazing and unique driving experience to provides but the past year or so I find that I love it or hate it......love it when I'm doing double the speed limit on back roads and hate it the rest of the time. I've had two short test drives in the Roma and made a deposit and ordered one 5 weeks ago. I the use the Scud mostly for club drives on weekend mornings but want a car I can drive longer distances without feeling like a wreck after a couple of hours. I think the Roma will be a much better car for me at this stage of my life. Plus my wife is not fond of doing long drives in the Scud. She went on a test drive in the Roma and really liked it. She won't drive the Scud as she is intimidated by it but says she would drive the Roma.
My first Ferrari was a 456GT, six speed (hard to guess) and my last was a F430 Spider, with a F550 and 360 Modena wedged in-between. In all cases doing about 250 miles with a few breaks in-between is about all I could do in the cars. If I had to pick one, the F430 was most adjustable and comfortable. The 456GT was a good starter car, but not the long distance GT it was meant to be. I would say, if the Roma is at least as comfortable as was my 12C Spider, I would give it a serious look...I probably should head down to Ferrari of NB and see if they have a demo...stay tuned, MB

Have any of you noticed that the production Roma has this hideous bump added to the roof? Totally ruins the smooth flawless lines of the car. I’ve included two pictures from the config PDF. I have only seen it on one or two photos posted here out of 100s. It is a radio and satellite antenna ? But who uses that stuff these days and why would u ruin the perfect lines on the roof and view from back. Arggggg Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
It is ridiculous to spend millions of euros and be obliged to have aesthetic shames such as rearview mirrors with bubbles for cameras, faces damaged by radar, sensors and so on and backs damaged by fins, protuberances, holes. With all the money they ask for, they should develop invisible, perfectly integrated solutions. I would expect it Look at at Audi front grill. Full of squares, plates, bubbles, blades... horrible. Or Mercedes S class
Manufacturers tell us that this is what their customers nowadays want.........all the gimmicks and nannies of which most are useless and not properly working anyway. Besides all that, some stuff is now required/mandatory by new laws, especially in the EU which includes Italy........ Marcel Massini

Silver shows every design characteristic in great detail, wonderful views! SPYROS thanks once again for all the great pictures you share here! NO fin on the roof.
Damn.. yeah.... just distracts the eye from the pure smooth lines over the back to the roof. Interesting.. Post pictures when you get yours since its prob the first USA production. Let us know if anything else if changed. thank you!
Will do. Got word 8 days ago it arrived in the US but it is apparently stuck in customs. Maybe the agents didn't like the ugly wart!
Yes I'm sure.. Sent it back to Italy to get removed :-D.. and i noticed the reflectors on the wheel wells front and back wheels. I don't mind them they look nice.
